So I work with 8 other people so if I invited them thats 19 extra people to my list....which is over $1000 just on them. Ive been at my job almost 4 years. I am really not close with them plus one of my coworkers sons is getting married 2 days before me.
The only thing is my boss and 2 other supervisers are really excited about the wedding and are planning an office shower. Do you think my coworkers will be upset if I just invite my boss and supervisers? Besides their the only 3 Ive worked with since the beginning.
But if I do decide to invite them all...would it be wrong to not let the single people bring a guest if I put them on a table with the other coworkers?

Re: Inviting Coworkers..Need Help!
Ok, i think you have PLENTY of time to worry about this one. Your office could potentially turn over completely by January....and you're not going to even send out your invites until a couple of months before so I wouldn't let this stress you out.....not yet anyway.
That said, it's always a smart move to invite the boss and it would not be wrong or anything if you only invited the boss and your supervisors. I think that's all that should be expected, the rest is totally up to you. Good Luck.

I have heard of people inviting only supervisors and not coworkers. My FH will probably do that.

If you're not close with the people, don't invite them. Don't stress about it or think you'll hurt feelings.

Re: Inviting Coworkers..Need Help!
I've been at my job for 13 years, and am only inviting my two direct bosses, and 1 friend I've had here for the 13 years. I can't invite everyone, there are 9 other people in my division, but I only work closely with my two bosses. I'm not inviting the division head. I have other office friends, but we tend to keep our outside lives personal and don't invite each other to personal functions. There are office showers, but it is not expected that all will be invited to the wedding.

If you only invite them, maybe ask them to keep it on the Dl as to not exclude the others.

Re: Inviting Coworkers..Need Help!
There is nothing wrong with inviting the single co-workers without a guest if you want to invite them all. I had the same thing. I worked with 8 people, most married, engaged, or in serious relationships. I invited them all with a date. One of my co-workers got married 6 months later and only invited the married people with guests. The rest of them were invited stag.
One of my co-workers got married 6 days before me and she only invited 2 of us. It raised a bit of an issue in the office. People were really upset about it. But then again we are all pretty close.

I FEEL YOUR PAIN, I WORK CLOSELY WITH A BUNCH AND THERE ARE OTHERS THAT ARE SOMEONE CLOSE TO ME BUT IT CAN GET OUT OF CONTROL, I THINK YOU ARE FINE WITH INVITING ONLY YOUR SUPERVISOR AND BOSS/ ASK THE OTHER GIRL WHO IS GETTING MARRIED WHO SHE IS INVITING TO GET AN IDEA.
IF YOU INVITE SINGLES YOU SHOULD INVITE THEM WITH A GUEST.

Re: Inviting Coworkers..Need Help!
I have the same problem. Everyone is telling me now to invite my coworkers at all but i feel weird not doing that.
I have been in my new job for 4 months. Working in accounting my department tends to work 12 hour days for most of the month. meaning we eat breakfast , lunch and dinner together. As it is a very close department i would feel weird not inviting anyone. Should i... invite only my manager, director and supervisor invite no one invite only those from the department that i feel close to dont invite anyone.
Any help would be appreciated.

Re: Inviting Coworkers..Need Help!
just a thought to consider......even if you invite them, they may RSVP no. You never know what can happen. It's not like they are not going to give a gift. If they are fun and you are good friends I would invite them.

I've been at my job for 7 years and work really closely with everyone here, so I decided that I'm going to invite them all. Theres only 6 people and 3 will be invited with a guest.

Re: Inviting Coworkers..Need Help!
We just invited our 2 bosses, the owners of the company. Our co-workers did get together and throw us a small office shower, but I didn't feel bad there was just no way we could accomodate having them at the wedding. Plus we're not friendly with any of them outside of work, why should that change now??

I'm dealing with the same thing....a couple of people at work have gotten married and some of us weren't invited...and it was OK - we all understand how expensive weddings are and plus relationships change and I'm only inviting the people that I'm really close too. People will understand its your day you do what you feel in your heart!
