Inviting ettiquette

Hey the last string I read made me think of a good question...
Are you supposed to invite people that invited you??? I mean, generally speaking.

We are....but that is entirely up to you. You have to feel comfortable and want to have them at your wedding.

If you're still close or at least semi-close. If you exchange Christmas cards, see them a few times a year at parties and such, then I would. If you don't, then don't feel pressured to invite them. If there's no connection anymore what's the point?

Mary FH and I said the same thing about Christmas cards. His parents refuse to pay anyhing they say they already married their daughter they dont have to pay for anymore weddings. They gave us a guest list. i asked him who are these people he had no idea who they were. His parents didnt give us addresses for some of these people. I went in his parents address book to get them and they had their names but no address. Im Pissed. If they dont send them Christmas cards every year and Mike doesnt know who they are then WHY DO THEY HAVE TO BE INVITED?

You know.... I thought of that not too long ago. I am inviting a couple to our wedding that invited me years ago to theirs. I see them on occassion BUT I am re-thinking the invite. I think you should invite who you want to be there and not because of the obligation.

'Should old acquiantances be forgot?'

It could rekindle old friendships where you both just lost touch. Or it could be the final nail in the coffen or your friendship.

I am inviting people that I really want to be there. Especially with my 'friends', I mean if I was going to invite everyone I know what woud be the point?

I don't think you should invite anyone because you feel obligated to. I say invite them only if you REALLY want them there.
