Inviting family to stay after ceremony for pictures... HOW?
So, per the subject of this email I will be asking family members to stay after the church ceremony so that we can take a group family picture. I wanted to inclose a little card in the invitation for those I wanted to stay behind (aunts, uncles, cousins...)
Has anyone done this before? Anyone have recommendations for how to word something like this?
ANY and ALL help is appreciated! TIA

I worked with Duet for my wedding. The photographers did our formal portraits with our family and friends for an hour right after our ceremony. It's def a good idea to get it out of the way right before your reception. Unfortunately, we missed part of our cocktail hour since they were doing formal portraits of us. We included the info in our ceremony card along with the invite. For your invites, you can either include formal portraits to follow after ceremony or if it takes place before your cocktail, you can word it as formal portraits to follow before cocktail hour. I don't think it would be a problem to include it in the directions card if you think it works better in that format.

I would just make a separate small card that says 'Please remain after the ceremony for formal portraits'
It is also a good idea to give a list of people to someone in your bridal party so they can make sure to round up those people for you on that day.

I only plan on taking pics with my grandparents and Godparents. I don't know how many family members you are talking about but I just planned on telling them a few days before. I will make sure the photog takes those pics first and then they can leave and continue with the BP pics
Is that ok to just ask then to, without anything formal?

i am doing this as well, we will probably be telling the family through word of mouth to show up at the RH 1 hour before our CH so that we can take family pictures together. i know it is important to my family at least to have these pics!

Thank you!
Im having at least 60 people stay behind - if not more. I want to get the entire group shot out of the way before we get to the venue so I can breathe.
Doing one shot of my family (extended included) - Mom and Dad's side and then doing another one of FH mom's side and the one of his dad's side. They are a huge family! If we can squeeze them in then we will other wise 3 group shots - aaaaaaaaah!
Its a grrreat idea to compile a list and give it to someone to make sure everyone is there. Probably make a few and get some of the bridal party on top of that.
Thanks girls!!

My sister asked family members to come early to the reception, before the CH. I think they just spread the news by word of mouth, nothing formal. If I were to do a similar thing, I would just tell them via in person or telephone.

I might just tell them rather including something in the invitation.

We did our family pics before the ceremony. We just called everyone and told them at what time to be there...everyone behaved and was on time :)

I really warned my family to please be at the cocktail hr 40 mins early, so we could knock out those pics. I stressed this from very early on, and also had my mother and aunt re-stress this to the extended family. Maybe I was a @#$# about it, but I really gave strict instruction to show up early, and if they didnt, there would be no pics with them in it, and there would not be any 're-do's of the entire family later on that evening.
