Inviting friends to shower/bachelorette

Inviting friends to shower/bachelorette

So my sister asked me to get together my friends list for my shower and bachelorette party (I think it's kinda early but I guess she wants to start booking stuff. ) So anyway- I have a few friends that I keep in touch a decent amount but dont get to see them too often. One live in Staten Island and is married w/ a baby. Another is married with 3 kids in long island and we still email/keep in touch (and finally seeing each other next week) but its been a while since we actually hung out. Does anyone else have friends like this? Friends that you still talk to, tell things to and like keeping in touch with? And do you plan on inviting them to your shower/bachelorette, etc? I obviously dont consider them my 'best friends' but I am a little torn. Any advice/opinions? TIA!!

the shower list, from what i understand, is all the women who are invited to the wedding. i gave my sister my wedding guest list and maybe one or two women weren't invited because they are SUPER distant or not relatives, friends of parents. as for the bach party. that is definitely the place to add some people. i know of a few friends that i will ask my sister to invite along.

Yes., I have friends like this and I am inviting them to the bachelorette party.. that is a get together for your freinds, IMO, so if they want to come.. the more the merrier!

For my shower (and most I have been to) it is only family, very very close family friends and my closest friends. Not all the women. I have 280 people on my wedding list and maybe 65 on the shower list.

As for my baclorette party - I invited my bridesmaids and the girlriends I see most often.

I just gave my mom my wedding list and she is inviting most of the woman that are on it. Keep in mind that it is not early for your fam to be getting ready for your shower. My mom told me that she just booked a place and she had issues with the availability of the place she picked. Some of the dates she was interested in were already taken. I don't know when my shower is but my wedding isn't until October.

I agree with this. I don't like inviting wives and girlfriends that I barely know, they may look at it as a just another gift they have to buy.

I thought wedding etiquette dictates that only women who are actually invited to the wedding should be invited to the shower/ bachelorette party? Are these two friends on your invite list?

I mean you can certainly invite whoever you want, but it may be awkward when everyone is talking about looking forward to the big day and your two friends aren't invited ...

Additionally not every single woman on your invite list HAS to be invited to the shower. it should really be reserved for close friends and family. I think it has a lot to do with where/ the type of shower. If it is at a home or is more casual, then the more the merrier but if your BP is shelling out for a restaurant and is paying per person then you probabaly would want to be more selective with the guest list IMO ....

Yeah I have friends like these. I invited all the women on my wedding list except women who I just really don't know. Like dad's coworker or coworkers wife. I even invited FH friends girlfriends/fiances/wives that I'm not that close too but felt since FH is close with them it would be nice. As far as bachelorette, I invited all the ladies that are in my age group.

I am the same way. I also did not include work friends, college friends I see make 5-10 times a year, people I grew up with but now only see at events - for the wedding I will of course invite them but i am keeping the shower intimate. Plus, they get to save on a gift. Works both ways!

I kept the shower list to close friends and family (still prolly about 90 people eeek (we are inviting 350+ to the wedding)) , I was torn about inviting the wives/girlfriends of the groomsmen but then decided to just pick and choose the ones i talk to. As for the bach party we are renting a house and have a limit so I am keeping it to my bridal party (10 girls), and like 5 other close firends/cousins.
