Fh and I just sent out the STD's...in fact I dont even think anyone received them yet...BUT...already, a friend of the family who is invited, asked if her son's girlfriend is invited...is that rude? should i expect that from people? what do I say? they are 18... I dont know this girl, IN FACT, if I saw any of these people in passing I wouldn't know them from a whole in the wall... they are on Fh's side... I dont know if I am overreacting but I think it is RuDe to ask if your son's girlfriend is invited... please give me your HONEST opinions... how do I address this?

Re: inviting girlfriends??
very rude. I would set a threshold... people who are X age and have been dating for... Something like that. None of my young cousins are getting dates except for one because she's in my wedding party. I would have FH tell them though if it's his family.

It is rude, because no offense, but if it doesn't say and guest, you can pretty much assume.. NO GUEST..

Re: inviting girlfriends??
I had the same issue this eve with one of my Friends. She just started dating a guy and she goes through them like Baskin robbins so I told her..'Honey, I didnt factor him in originally because we only invited friends and family......she was fine with that answer but its depending on the individual I guess.
Good luck!

first, I am LMAO about that! but, people just don't get it sometimes!, you just have to tell them how you feel...it's your wedding .

Re: inviting girlfriends??
I would just respond...I haven't finished my official wedding invite list yet, so I will have to see who I will and won't be able to invite...there will be a limit the X amount of people. I guess I'll have a better idea of where I have to end my list when we are closer to the day.
FH and I invited anyone over 18 with a guest. But you have to do what will fit your guest list.

Re: inviting girlfriends??
I think it's rude to ask.. I was invited to a wedding this past summer, before I was engaged, and wasn't invited with a guest.. I didn't ask any questions, but was still a little upset that he wasn't invited...

Re: inviting girlfriends??
People just don't think It gets me so aggravated. They have no appreciation for the price of weddings these days. If your FH'S family wants her there and you don't (especially if your paying) he needs to take care of it..at least that's how we are handling our guests/family's. Try to get him to talk to them about it using the advice the other girls gave you.

Re: inviting girlfriends??
Rude is an understatement!!
But since its someone on FH's side, then I really think you shouldn't be put in the position to address this.. I think he should try to deal with the situation (unless you also know the party involved)
Its sucks to have to SPELL IT OUT for people, but sometimes they needs a brick at the head to knock some sense into 'em!

Re: inviting girlfriends??
if it's his family, he needs to address it. see if maybe after yes/no responses (if you want to invite her) if you can fit her in. otherwise, tell them no... but in my experience my fi and i were only dating for about 6months when his brothers wedding came around. so i figured i wasn't invited. i didn't mind. but two months before hand his brother told me that i was invited, i thought it was really sweet of them to let me go because we weren't dating that long. but my fi was the best man.. so that may have something to do with it.

Re: inviting girlfriends??
thanks girls... I am kind of offended they asked but at the same time I know if I was in their position I would want to be able to bring a guest. I guess Fh & I really gotta look at our list and see if we can fit in some more people. You girls are wonderful... now I don't feel like I was overacting by getting upset...thanks
