Inviting guests with Dates

Inviting guests with Dates

Hey ladies, need some input... so FH and I have spent hours, days and weeks determining who to cut from our list...we both have VERY LARGE Italian families, and had to be very selective with who we could keep... So we decided on a cut off age of 18 (otherwise we'd have 20 little kids running around, and I DO NOT want that) and then a cut off for age for dates at 21. What do you guys think of this? It's only 9 of our cousins who fall into that bracket. But adding 9 people (as dates) can be very expensive, so Im curious to know what you guys are doing, but also what do you think of a cut off for dates at 21? Is this rude? Should everyone we invite over 18 be invited with a date?

i think that if they are in a serious relationship then dates should be invited. but if they arent then i think it is okay to invite them alone

I agree...I was 19 and 20 and with FH, and I'd be pretty irked if I wasn't invited with him because I was 6 months too young. JMHO.

I think that a cutoff is fine; especially since you have such large families.

It is reasonable to invite those that have a significant other with a date, and those that do not, alone.

Good luck!

Thats the thing NONE of them are in a serious relationship, and they are all 18, 19 and 20! If any of them were in a serious relationship I would absolutely invite them with their GF/BF! But they arent, okay, thanks so much ladies!

I invited everyone with a guest whether in a relationship or not. I felt like it was not my place to judge their relationships and I had mostly OOT guests so I didnt want to make people travel alone.

We did the same thing.

I agree with everyone else, regardless of age I would invite them if they were in a serious relationship. My rule is serios relationship = u can bring a date. Not serious = no date regardless of age (except for my 3 best friends who are not in relationships and FH's closes friend-- the only close friend he has not in a relationship)

We are doing 18 and over. Only inviting with a guest if its a serious relationship( live together, dating for a long time etc)

We are only inviting people in serious relationships with their S.O, regardless of age. No one is being invited 'and guest'. All the guests are people we know, and are being invited by name. We are also not having any children. The youngest will be our two jbm's who are 13.

We are doing something similar... everyone is being invited by name; however, one of my cousins just broke up with her BF of 4 years, so good thing we cought that before the invitations went to the chick whose handwriting them out!

We also have a few engaged couples, so on the inside envelope we are writing The Future Mr & Mrs _____. I loved the idea, and think that our friends who receive them will too!

Everyone is being invited with a guest, but my little cousins who are not in a serious relationship will be fine, they are all happy that they are invited to the wedding!

i honestly believe you can do whatever you want and people shouldn't get offended

FH and i ran across the same problem and we just said that if you were in a relationship (a serious one) then you can bring a date. if not, then you can't. it gets SO EXPENSIVE to have everyone with a date and it would be nice to do that, but who can afford that anymore?
