inviting kids... help

inviting kids... help

Ok so I'm very close to FH's family (this includes his aunts, cousins, and their kids) but as far as my family is concerned I'm close with some family members. Some of my cosuins I haven't seen in a few years. Here's where my question comes in.
We are inviting FH's nephew (he's our ring bearer), his second cousins (our flower girl and banner boys). Now we're getting to other people that have kids but aren't part of the wedding party. FH has another cousin that has a kid the same age as our ring bearer and I haven't even thought twice about inviting him. It's just natural since we see them all the time. But when I think about my cousins I really don't want to invite their kids or for that matter anyone else that has kids. I don't mind having a couple of kis at the wedding but I just don't want the dance floor to be over run with kids.
Now is it bad if we don't invite these other kids? Would people be upset when they see these other kids at the party?

I think you'll run into SOMEONE who will be upset... but probably a lot of those parents will welcome the night out without their kids.

I'm quickly learning that you won't be able to make every one happy... but do what you and your fiance' want to do and what will make YOU BOTH happy. That's what really matters on your wedding day.

agreed!

I am having kids, but only the ones in the wedding party, who happen to be our nieces and nephews and also my cousins daughters who are our flower girls. Other than that, no other kids. It can get out of hand inviting a bunch of kids. but its completely up to you guys. Ultimately, its your wedding, so do what you want and feel comfortable with. ( i know thats easier said than done )

GL on this though!

I am having family kids but not friend kids. Luckily I don't have that many friends that have kids. I already talked to them and they seemed okay with it. They said they wouldn't have brought them. They are under 2 and they wanted a night out. Which I am finding that even family members are doing as well. Maybe if you mention it to them so they can arrange a babysitter?

My best suggestion would be to do what makes you and FH happy. We've learned that no matter what you choose to do, someone will have something to say. We chose to invite children that we were close to and saw on a regular basis. If we don't know your children or don't see them often, they were not invited. So far, we haven't had any complaints, to our face. We shall see what happens when RSVPs start rolling in.

We decided on only inviting our nieces and nephews (most wont be in the bridal party as we have 8 total)
We are not even sure if our brothers & sisters will bring the little kids as they might want a night out.

Id also find out what your venue will do for you as far as pricing goes. Our venue charges a lot (we think) for kids.

Hope this helps!!

YES. This exactly. My only suggestion would be maybe giving the other boy a role in the wedding? Even if he just hands out programs or greets guest. This way you can use the excuse that all the children at the wedding had a role.

Is there anyway that you can give a job to every kid that you want there? I know you have flower girl and ring bearer, but maybe incorporating the other's somehow to give an excuse as to why those kids are there and not others

I'm having kids, the ones in the bridal party, our families & close friends kids, but no work people's kids though...gotta draw the line somewhere. Some don't want to bring the kids either, but most of them are very excited to come and I'm happy to have them but totally understand not wanting them there either

Thanks everyone for the advice. I was thinking of giving FH's other cousins kid a job but the only problem is he'll be 4 and he's really shy and won't leave his mother's side. Maybe by the wedding he'll overcome that and I can have him hand out bubbles.
