inviting more people question... kinda long but I need help!!!! Please read!

I'm going to try to keep this as short as possible.

After invites went out, I realized we were cutting it close to the minimum, because more people were rsvp'ing no than we anticipated.

So, with a fair amount of time left until the rsvp deadline, I asked DF if he wanted to invite people from his current firm. He's only been working there since beginning of April, so he didn't think he should. So we didn't invite anyone from the firm.

The rsvp deadline was 2 days ago. I have come to terms that we are not going to hit our minimum... we'll be at least 10 to 15 under.

Two hours ago, DF texts me that he wants to invite people from his firm now.

AHHHHHHHHH! What do I do??? Is there a proper etiquette way to invite these people to make it not look tacky? Can DF email them saying something like, 'when invites went out, I was still fairly new to the firm, but now that I've gotten to know everyone better, I'd like to be a part of our special day'?

The extra invites are already sealed (i didn't do it!) So do I give them a paper invite, after opening the envelope and taking out the rsvp card??? I don't know what to do....

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!!!!

i think it's perfectly fine to say 'when invites went out, I was still fairly new to the firm, but now that I've gotten to know everyone better, I'd like to be a part of our special day'. no one needs to know about the minimum. as for the invites - are you able to just get new envelopes? paper access in the city has a ton of envelopes there, maybe you can go there and find the same envelopes your current invites have? you can open, take out the rsvp and then put in new envelopes?

I don't know hun...this is a tough one. I wouldn't at this point..unless he knows they're down to earth people and that he can somewhat mention it in passing to them to see how they respond.. I know I would hate to be on the receiving end of that one... Tough one.....

I agree. I don't plan on inviting my coworkers until I know I'm under my minimum (FH has a very large family, and we only have a finite amount of CPs, so I really can't invite them). Unfortunately, I'm a shmuck and brought my invite sample in to work to weigh on the postage meter, so a few coworkers will know they're getting a different invite if I go the Michael's route But I think for you that's best, since it won't have an RSVP date that passed on it.

I just looked for more envelopes and I have extras. So I think I'll have him send out a 'save the date' email tonight with a phone call rsvp date for 2 weeks from now, and he'll give out the invites next week with no rsvp card/envelope in it.

Does that sound ok?

I talked to people in person and gave them an invitation and told them not to worry about the RSVP date.

Thanks ladies. I just wanted to be sure that we weren't committing a horrible no-no.

I wish DF would make up his mind when I initially ask him things....

I had a similar issue. Although, I still don't know if we are going to go over our minimum or not since many people still haven't responded yet. Anyway, I decided to go to ACMoore and buy more invites for 4 or 5 coworkers to invite. I also used those invitations as rehearsal invitations. I change the RSVP date to a week later than everyone elses so it looked like they weren't on the 'B list'.
