We just met with our officiant last weekend. I need to know how we are supposed to invite him and his wife to the reception after the ceremony. Do we just send him a regular invitation, do it verbally? Do we just send him the reception card - our ceremony is at the hall? - we do have a reception card but it doesn't have time on it because it is basically whenever the ceremony ends. Any help would be great! Thanks!

Do I need to invite my officiant? I met with her once and will meet with again before the wedding?
Also where would I seat her?

Re: Inviting officiant
I would ask, even though it seems awkward. We asked our officiant and she said no, they prefer not to stay. if they went to every wedding they officiated, they'd never eat home! It pays just to ask what they'd prefer.

I think we are going to invite ours. They are super cool and very good friends of two of our guests. I would actually be honored of they came

Re: Inviting officiant
Ours is doing another 2 weddings right after ours, one right after the other, so we didn't invite them.

Are you suppose to invite the priest/deacon to the reception? I think it's weird. I have only met with him once plus I think then they would have to go to a reception almost every weekend. I don't think people do that anymore unless they know the person. My step-sis said I am suppose to invite him to the rehearsal dinner. Again I think it's strange..I don't even know this man.

I'm in the same boat - met officiant once and don't know the ettiquette. I went to a cousin's wedding a couple of months ago and their officiant stayed for the reception. I know for a fact that they met the officiant several months prior, but their wedding was on a Monday evening, so maybe she thought she had nothing better to do.
