We are having our ceremony at the reception hall and it is being officiated by a rabbi and a priest. Were we suppossed to invite them to stay for the reception? I never sent them invitations and now I am starting to think I should have. We have no personal relationship with them. Thanks.

Re: Inviting Officiants?
I'm starting to wonder too. We do not have a personal relationship with our priest so I didn't invite him. FI thinks that since he will already be at the wedding hall, we should invite him to dinner.

we did and he is coming with his wife.
i think it's considered polite to do so, although i hear that if you don't have a personal relationship officiants tend to decline...

We did not invite our officiant. Basically she is another vendor. We do not have any kind of personal relationship with her.

Our Officiant is a family friend, and she is staying for the evening --my questions is....do I consider her a friend or an officiant---since our vendors are 1/2 price....I want to put her down for 1/2 ($50 instead of $100)...is that cheezy -no one will really know about it??

Are you having your ceremony at the same place as your reception?

Agreed.. I am paying him 750 bucks to show up, I don't need to cover the cost of him and his wife too.

I think if you seat her wiith family, she is counted as a guest, noyt a nevdor. i told my hairdresser, I do not knwo where to sit my minsiter if she comes &she said with the band. Ithough that was odd.
I am hoping she just comes to the coctail hour. she hasn't responded, perhaps that is why.

Re: Inviting Officiants?
Honestly, I don't know if it's considered rude not to invite them, but I really don't care. I'm paying them a ridiculous sum of money for 20 minutes work, as well as paying my hall a ceremony fee. I refuse to send another dime on them. If they want to stay for the coctail hour that's fine (because they don't take a head count) but they WILL be leaving when it's time for the reception.
