This is done, right? I have mucho family and friends in Texas and other states that I certainly do not expect to come....but isn't sending a shower invite to an out of towner the right thing to do? I've received them from out of state before....
I will be sending out of town invites to my bridal shower and we also did for my brothers wedding, and I have received many out of town invites to other showers.
This is definitely done...when I threw my best friend's shower, I had a bunch of people from Arizona and Florida on the list...none of them came but if I didn't send them, they would have been offended! One of them was the grooms grandmother!
I had someone in FL COMPLAIN that they did not receive their invite even though they had no intentions of coming. Go figure... We sent them anyways
I sent them to people out of state that I was close to or I thought would be offended if I didn't. I didn't send any to DH's family who lives in CA who never even met me or my really old relatives I barely met in FL..but I did send it to my 1st cousins in SC and close friends who live out of state.
My Mom & sister (MOH) are going to be sending shower invities to out of towners. I have family that lives far out east on LI and I do not think that they will travel all the way into Bklyn for the shower but they will be invited. Also, my FI's aunt & counsins live in Ohio and they also will get an invitation even though I know that they will not come to the shower too
I have one out of town guest who will probably just send a gift for my shower & come for the wedding, but yes send the invite
everyone likes to be invited to a party...let them decide if they want to come and if they want to give a gift...
My mother invited out of towners to my upcoming shower but FMIL was very clear that she didn't want to invite anyone from out of state (even her sisters). Her whole family is out of state and out of the country. She felt that it would pressure them to come when they wouldn't have done it normally. Her family relates to one another differently than mine does, so I followed her lead even though I didn't want to. I say invite the out of towners.
I would send it - its the right thing to do...if they are that far away, chances are they wont come but they still may send a gift. I would be offended if I was invited to a family wedding and didnt get an invite to the bridal shower, no matter how far away I was.
