inviting priest and his wife

inviting priest and his wife

We are getting married at our RH. My priest will be preforming the ceremony. Is it customary to invite him to the wedding? I don't expect or want him to give a gift. What is appropriate to do?

TIA!

We are inviting ours but my Grandma is friends with him also. I think that it is up to you if you invite him. On our paperwork from the church, it didn't say you had to, it just said that if you plan to invite them, that you must send them an invitation.

It depends if you know them personally, for us we're not inviting them at the reception but we'll let them know that they are free to join the cocktail hour.

How are you wording that? Are you sending them an invite for the CH? My priest has been a part of my family's life for the past 8 years as he helped me and my parents through my very nasty divorce and has baptized my daughter. He was also there to stand up against my ex so I feel he is just more than a 'priest' that will marry us. He has been there for the toughest times of my life. I am glad he will be the one marrying me during the happiest time of my life (besides giving birth to my DD).
