FH and I are virtually the first of our friends to tie the knot. Some of our friends are in long relationships but a lot are single. We're not inviting people with a guest unless they are in a serious relationship and ideally if we have met their SO (although in some circumstances we are making exceptions for that).
Should the bridal party be invited with guests even if they aren't seeing anyone? I was thinking no, since they are people who are very close to us and are either family, or close friends who know lots of other guests. On the other hand if we invite other BP members with their SOs to the rehearsal dinner we dont want the single ones to feel awkward.
2 of my BMs are in serious relationships and we know their SO. 1 BM is single, but very good friends with a lot of people there. The other 2 single BMs are immediate/close family.
1 of FH's groomsmen will be married as of 2 weeks by the time of our wedding. 3 are in serious relationships. 1 is single, and is immediate family.
I guess what I'm asking is, should close family members be invited with a guest if they are 100% single and will know lots of other people there? There should be a bunch of other single guests at the wedding.

Re: Inviting the entire BP with guests?
FH and I have the same problem. We both come from BIG families and we have already chopped our list down A LOT!!! We have come to the conclusion that unless you are in a serious relationship, you will not be invited as a guest. I do not want some 'flavor of the week' to be a guest at my wedding.... I want to be able to look around my room and know who each and every single person is.... I know this may cause some backlash, but there is only so many people I can feed the night of my wedding!

So you are extending that to the BP as well? One of FH's brothers (BestM) is single, my little sis (MOH) is single, my cousin (BM) is single, and one of my best friends (BM) is single. Do I invite them with guests because they are in the BP or should i apply the same rule to them?

Re: Inviting the entire BP with guests?
Im limiting my guestlist too because of money issues but our BP are all allowed to bring a guest. Im hoping my single friends decide to help us out and not come with a guest if we dont know them. A lot of our friends know were having money issues so I guess we'll see.

we are doing the same thing for everyone we are inviteing...NO guest unless they are married or in a long term relationship...I am not paying for strangers to come to my wedding lol
i dont think you have to invite the family members with a guest...i feel there is no need since they know so many people there

Re: Inviting the entire BP with guests?
First ask your single bp members if they even are planning to bring a guest, alot of times they want to go alone.
Alot of ppl in our BP are in relationships, some married, engaged, or in very serious relationships and even living with their SO, we know all their SO, so we're definitely inviting them. We have some that are single but we're going to invite them with guest, however for our e-party we invited them with 'and guest' and they came alone

Yup...same rule applies to my BP... i know people are going to have something to say about this... but there is really nothing I can do, it is a very touchy situation

Re: Inviting the entire BP with guests?
We have only 1 person in the BP that is single, plus it is family, so we are letting her bring a guest. As for everyone else---Luckily mostly they are married, but if they are single and not seeing anyone---I do not think we are inviting guests with them. But I have a question--there is one person I want to invite, has been in a relationship for years but I really do not like him----Can I just invite her??????

IF THEY've been together for years then i'd really think about this...is she your friend? bc if a friend invited me and not FH then i'd be mad and it would cause tension.

I think you need to invite him unless there is a specific incident where he did something horrible to you or FH.
I have a not-very-close friend who is married -- I have never met her husband and they kind of have an odd relationship and I'd love to invite her alone but they are married so I'm going to invite them both and hope he doesnt come.
I guess I'll keep the same rule with BP (no guests unless you are in a serious relationship) but be a little more lax on it if it's someone in the BP since our single BP members are very close family or one close friend. the standard of what we will consider a serious relationship might be a little lower...

Yes. I think so. Even if you arent inviting everyone else with a guest, I think you should DEFINITELY invite your bridal party with a guest. I wouldn't want them to feel uncomfortable.

Re: Inviting the entire BP with guests?
i personally feel that if they are over a certain age they should be invited with a guest, especially if they are in the BP. That is just my feeling.

No you need to invite both.
How would you feel if it was your friends wedding and you were invited without your Husbad or FI because they didnt like him? or didnt even know they didnt like him and found out that way... i just dont think that is the right thing to do.
We are inviting my cousin even though my mom and him dont get along and we have invited them to 3 events in the past few years and they havent come. Its just the right thing to do and i dont want to stur up problems with other members of my family if i didnt invite him.
