Inviting vendors

Inviting vendors

Is it true that vendors should receive an invitation via mail?

If so, which vendors get them?

Band (that is being taken care of since I work with the manager's husband)
Rabbi (already sending to him)
Photographer?
Hall??
Florist?

I'm confused on the etiguitte about this

I've never heard of inviting the vendors to the wedding - unless you have a close relationship with them otherwise.

I am interested in that question too since I have never heard of that.

Re: Inviting vendors

Other than inviting your officiant, I have not heard anything about inviting vendors... they are there to work, not be guests.

So we are supposed to invite our officiant, even if we have no prior relationship with him/her?

I don't think it's actually about inviting the vendor, it's almost like a reminder, like when they send us one that we owe them money. You don't need to send them the reply card or the hotle info, if you have that, Just the invitation and the directions. I have no intentions of inviting any of my vedors to be a guest. I don't mean this in a rude way, but I'm not looking to be friends with them.

the only one i sent an invitation to was the officiant.....the rest of them i trusted that they would remember when and where the wedding was based on our contract information!

I don't think it's necessary to invite the officiant if you have no prior relationship with him/her. I don't have a prior relationship with them and they are doing a job - and getting paid $500 for half and hour's work!!!

I'm only inviting my officiant, but I have a prior relationship with him. (why did that sound so wrong?!?)

i am inviting
- the pastor and his wife
- the organist and guest
- the violinist and guest

sent invites to for direction purposes:
- band
- photographer

we are part of a small congregation and know the ceremony musicians indirectly. the violinist is a friend of a friend of the family and the organist was very touched that we thought to include her...

I'm only inviting our officiant. I don't have a relationship with her, but we want to have her as our guest. But she hasn't replied, the due date was Friday.

Only one we will be inviting is the priest... and it's mostly just a courtesy!

Re: Inviting vendors

Absolutely NOT!! I am a vendor and the only person you send an invite to is the priest or whom ever is saying the ceremony, and ONLY if you have a relationship with them prior to your wedding.

No invites to vendors!!!! You should give one to the Photographer if you want one of those bouquet/invitation pictures. Otherwise keep your relationship with your vendors strictly business.

Re: Inviting vendors

i'm confused. if vendors get a formal invitation, doesn't that imply that they will be seated with the other guests, etc? if so, then i could see sending one to the officiant if you want him/her to attend your wedding. but i really don't see the point of formally inviting other vendors who will actually be working at your reception.

geez, i hope it's not 'etiquette' to do this, because i have limited room in my ballroom, and i'm not about to leave out family and friends so that my vendors can sit! LOL
