So, I have someone at work who reports directly to me since August. She is SOO sweet and loves talking about my wedding but I am unsure about inviting her. In my department, I have 7 people and I am inviting 5 of them (who I am super close with) and then that leaves one other girl who I don’t know well who I don’t directly work with so I am not inviting her and one girl who works ½ her time in my group but I am not inviting her since we aren’t close at all. So in my sub department, I would be inviting my boss and my assistant (possibly) but not the girl who works with us sometimes…is that weird?! Should I just not invite my assistant? I do like her and I feel like she would really want to come, but is it even appropriate? I am so confused!!!

Inviting your assistant?? - Long Island Weddings
I'm having the same issue with deciding how do I not invite everyone from work since the department I work in is so small, but I'm only close and good friends with like 3/5.

My FH's office is somewhat small, and he only invited his boss and two of his receptionists. The other people in his office know about it too, and are perfectly fine with it, since they know he's closer with the 3/deals with them everyday. The rest are just kind of part timers, or work in their other office at another location.
I think its not a big deal, and they know you can't invite all of them-especially to something as expensive as a wedding. The way I see it, if it was there wedding they'd prob feel or think the same way as you. If you want to invite your assistant, and get along with her, why not. :)

I completely understand!! I'm leaning towards the we don't really talk so I'm not inviting you option.

i just invited everyone in my department except the new guy. i've been here 12 years + it's about 7 people. then i invited anyone i've hung out with in other departments. i had 3 full tables of work people, and about 1/3 had declined. OMG!
