inviting your officiant to the reception?

Hi, girls...
Are you planning to invite your officiant to the reception as well? I found someone that will do our cermony but, i'm not sure if he will be attending the reception. How does it usually work? The thing is, I found him on-line and don't really know him on a personal basis... would it be weird NOt to invite him to the reception?
Thanks

I am going to invite my officiant. I don't know him but we are getting married at the hall...it is weird 'OK you're done with the ceremony leave now!' I'm not sure if he will come but I figured it would be nice to invite him!

We didn't know our officiant at first either. We met him when we decided on our church. During these upcoming months we will be meeting him, having lunch with him, getting to know him, this way he will not be a stranger marrying us. In this case I don't see a problem with inviting him. He may feel honored Then again, if it is your own family priest, you may feel comfortable inviting him.

Our priest and rabbi are doing an afternoon ceremony and then ours in the evening. Given that they've scheduled it like that, I'm going to assume that they don't plan on staying for the reception. Not to be rude, but I think of them as vendors. I've paid for their service and when they're done doing what they're paid for they should leave. I don't expect the ceremony of CH bands to stay for the reception, so why should the officiants be different?
