Inxpensive home furnishings?

FH is getting an apartment (First time in his own pat aside form college) and we have basically nothing. I was wondering if you know anywhere aside form IKEA that we can get furniture and just general home needs. i know IKEA is generally pretty cheap,. but their beds and couches seem to be as expensive as normal stores, and they don't have everyhting. Any tips? Some of the stuff basiclaly just has to last until we get married. I'm not officially mvoing in with him, so for example, we only need the bed to be until we get married. We want to get a new bed then, etc...

Try Sleepy's, Hillside bedding or Rockaway bedding for the bed.

I would not recommend rockaway bedding. I had nothing but problems with them!

I don't know if they have them in LI, but what about Bobs? My FH and I live in White Plains, so we go to the one in Stamford. We just bought a new living room set (couch, loveseat, chair and ottoman), dining room set (dark wood table that come with 2 leaves to seat 12 and 8 chairs) and a king size bedroom set (headboard, footborad, dresser, tall boy and end table) all for $6000.

try the macy's clearnace center (downstairs in the furniture store!) on glen cove road by roosevelt field......we have luck with them! they have sales every so often and then you hit pay dirt and get really great deals! the service there sucks in the showroom but we have nothign but raves about our finds and the peices we bought have certianly lasted!
