Re: Ipod DJ?
I seen this done a lot at lounges in the city...
I would get some ref's before booking... and check them out on other gigs first if you can...
Like if they do other gigs on the weekends maybe at a bar, or lounge... check the person out to see if you like it.
Thank decided after that.
Good Luck.

Re: Ipod DJ?
My friends did this for their wedding. One is in penn and the other up near boston. They rented a barn out and did this really amazing outdoor wedding and barn style reception. They both used a ipod dj and i thought it worked just fine. They both rented stereo equipment and hooked up their ipod and put it on shuffle. A friend watched it our geared up music that was appropriate for diff. times in the wedding who happens to be a semi prof dj anyway.
It really depends on how you feel about it. I wanted to do it but fh said no way in hell because he knows his family would just be bitches about it.

I do it for work parties all the time....BUT, I would certainly get a professional for a private affair like your wedding. It makes it less of a hassle and more entertaining.

if you're looking to save money, maybe you can go the ipod route for the ceremony and cocktail hour and hire a professional for the reception.

Re: Ipod DJ?
i'm thinking it might be doable for my wedding because I'm not doing the typical announcements, first dance stuff. I just want people sit and eat.
What kind of equipment would I need?

I wouldn't do it. A live DJ will be able to read your crowd and you won't have to attend to the DJ at all.

I guess I forgot to add that FH's family arent really into dancing. I've been to 3 of his family's weddings, they always dread having to dance.
The last thing I want is people doing the YMCA... i just want control over what is played and not what is a crowd pleaser.
