Ireland

Does anyone have any recommendations for visiting ireland? we want to go to ireland for our honeymoon but dont even know where to start. i think the top of our agenda is ashford castle, which i've read is 'better' than dromoland castle.
ive seen that off-peak season is end of nov-mar; so far the prices ive seen have been pretty expensive. also any recommendations for online/travel agencies that will save us some money?
thanks so much!

Re: Ireland

We stayed at the Ashford Castle about 8 years ago when we went and it was amazing --- very beautiful and it was in the town where they filmed the movie the Quiet Man.. everything closes super early, but the hotel has a restaurant that you can eat in if you miss dinner in town.. we stayed two nights which was plenty.. then we headed to Kilarney, my favorite city, which was much more lively and had a lot of fun things to do.. after a few days there we went to Cork and Dublin which are more city like.

Re: Ireland

I am amazed so many people think Ireland for their honeymoon. We are going also for ours. We kinda want to do a tour tho. We aren't going to join a group or anything, but we really want to see more of Ireland than just one town etc. Will probably rent a car and do bed and breakfasts etc.... atleast thats the plan so far. Haven't found a travel agent that has something like that for us yet, well, i guess it would help if I put some work into that part... right?

Let me know how it comes together!!!!

Re: Ireland

i just booked our hm for Ireland and we got an amazing deal since we are going in the off season in February. We went through a travel agency that had different packages independent tours where you get a car rental and you are free to go at your own pace or you can do guided tours. We chose an independent one. We wanted to stay in a castle one night but many of the packages had vouchers to use at different b&b's and we didn't want that we wanted a set itinerary of where we we staying. The did try to build us a package with staying in a castle and it made the price jump up alot. So... We ended up booking a package where we are staying in all five star hotels 1 night in Dublin, 2 nights in Galway, 2 nights in Killarney, and 1 night in Wicklow. FM if you want the name of the travel agency.
