How about the siege of ennis?

I LOVE that one, but I don't think my band knows it. I'm a big fan of the Wild Rover as well, but I think my mom wouldn't be too thrilled if we sang that at my wedding!

I love the Siege of Ennis - I am actually going to have to teach the dance to FH one day before the wedding.

Wild Rover is good too. I am laughing because I understand what you're saying about your Mom not being happy . . . . 'I spent all me money on whisky and beer'

But - it would be fun right?

Edited for spelling.

That's what I thought -- I thought it would be fun if everyone sang it together. I mean, most people know it, right?

I think my FH's family may be a little confused, but oh well. I doubt we'll do it, but I want to... My cousin did it and it was SO MUCH fun. Everyone sang together.

To be honest, I'm not so great with the siege of ennis dance and only a few people at my reception would know it. If we had a band that could sort of teach / direct the dance, I'd do it... Unfortunately, we'd just be a bunch of drunk Irish (and some not-so-Irish) Americans running around pretending we know what we're doing... which I have to say also sounds FUN!

I am fortunate enough to have a large number of Iona, Manhattan College or Fordham graduates in my family. I think learning the Siege is required curriculum at any one of those schools.

Kara: What about something like 'The Fields of Athenry' by Paddy Reilly? Its a great song that people can just slow dance too but a lot of people know the words and can sing along.

I know Bobby from Shandon Court too! Congratulations on your wedding!

I may be in the minority, but Wild Rover is a definite must play at my wedding!!! How about the Red Rose Cafe or Dirty Old Town?
