Irish Brides...Ceremony Music

Yesterday I did my ceremony music & I heard the most beautiful song 'The Irish Wedding Song' to be played when you light your unity candle!

It is definately something different & I just thought it was 'perfect' for the moment! Here is the words & the instrumental music!!

I saw your post about the Irish Wedding song and your link. My parents are from Ireland and I sing, so needless to say i've sung this song countless times at my cousins' weddings etc.... i just wanted to let you know there are two more verses to the song and some of the lyrics in your link are not correct. i can FM them to you as well as tell you where you can get the music to it if you would like it played live at your ceremony by the organist or whoever. it is a beautiful song... i am having it played at the unity candle and by our band as our last song at the reception.

We are using it as well for our candle ceremony. We are also playing it for the second dance at the reception. Good choice.

Sure.... no problem.... :)

Most church organists know this one, but double check!!! if they don't have it, the sheet music can easily be ordered through Sam Ash (a music store with many locations on LI) for less than $5.00.

The Irish Wedding Song
Verse 1:
Here they stand, hand in hand, they've exchanged wedding bands
Today is the day of all their dreams and their plans
And all of their loved ones are here to say,
God Bless this couple who marry today.

Chorus:
In good times and bad times, in sickness and health
May they know that riches are not needed for wealth
And help them face problems they'll meet on their way,
Oh God Bless this couple who marry today.

Verse 2:
May they find peace of mind comes to all who are kind
May the rough times ahead becomes triumphs in time
May their children be happy each day
Oh God bless this family who started today

Chorus

Verse 3:
As they go, may they know every love that was shown
And as life it gets shorter, may their feelings grow
Wherever they travel, whereever they roam,
May God Bless this couple, who marry today

Chorus

Re: Irish Brides...Ceremony Music

Oh one more thing, all you Irish brides... I have the lyrics to Lady of Knock, Ireland's song to the Blessed Mother, if anyone is interested. I am having that sung as we leave roses at Our Lady's altar (after Communion). Let me know and I'll post them....
