Irritated by Cakeline

So I had spoken with the collette foley people about my cake (I know it's really early, but I want a Castle cake, and I know it cna get expensive, and since we're paying for this ourselves and we really dont have money, I want to start planning as much as I cna so I have plenty of time to work out the budget and find the best prices). And collette foley was SO nice. They sent me back a detialed email with some ideas, and approximate pricing and they sent me a thing to fill out and they were just really nice..

Cakeline E-mails me back like 'It's too early to talk about your cake. I've done castles before, they cost about blah blah..but in 2 years they might be more expensive'..

And that was it. So I emailed back 'Thanks for the help, we won;t be contacting you again.'

I mean, she has a point, but I still felt like she could have been more helpful, like something like 'I can defintiely do a castle cake for you. Call me when the weddings gets closewer to discuss the details' Not like...I dont know..maybe I'm wrong..but it pissed me off.

well she could have been nicer like you said but prices do go up every year... i don't know how it is with cakes but places allow you to book earlier and give it to you for the price it at the time..
i do think over 2 years is a bit early to look for a cake

My bakery said it is too early for me and i am just about a year away

She is right about the prices.
Sometimes thing s come off rude in email, when they wrenr't inteneded that way.

Also, I hate when people get ahead of themselves at my job, so I'm sure I gave soemoena snippy resposne like that at some point when I'v ebeen swamped & people want to know details of something two years in the future that I really can't think about right now.

I hate that. I am very strick when it comes to vendors - i figure if they are not accomodatiing from the beginning then they prolly wont be that great in the end, when the pressure is on.

Good choice!

who is collette foley? does she have a website?

I agree. She was rude and you are perfectly right in telling her 'no thanks' if she made you feel like you were wasting her time.

I won't deal with companies who make me feel like that, especially when I'm only a 'prospective' customer. How will they treat me once I sign a contract & they actually have my money already???

I can totally appreciate your feelings. My livelihood depends on making my clients happy. So, I get angry when vendors are unpleasant or unprofessional to me.

I'm sorry, I don't see what's wrong with that email

Sure, she wasn't kissing up, but she was pretty straight forward with the information you needed.

Then again, I'm kinda thick skinned.....

DITCH THEM SPEND YOUR MONEY ELSEWHERE

I'm not getting touchy about it, and my thoughts aren't 'how dare she treat me that way'...

but you want someone who is going to be supportive form the beginning. She could have been a tad more encouraging or nicer, if she really wanted my money. hat's not the way to get customers.

Collette Foley was so nice form the time I first met them, and even tho the wedding is far off, they said 'send me a pic of what you want' and they responded promplty in great detail. I think when the time comes I'm going with them.

I'm sorry to hear you had an ehhh experience with Cakeline. I am using them for the groom's cake and she was extremely helpful and accomodating to me. Then again I called in January for a cake I need in May. I agree that she could have said it a different way. I don't think it was meant to be snotty. Maybe from your reaction they will learn to be more helpful and considerate.

there are so many vendors to choose from.... if you want to plan early there will be a vendor glad to help you
they shouldn't tell you it is too early... Don't they understand how excited we get !!!!!!!!!!
