Irving Plaza - need an idea

I just read susans high tea thread and I love the idea - high tea is perfect...I would love to do something before or after the tea.
Does anyone know the area?
Can you suggest something not too $$?
Originally I was thinking of a show for all of us, but they get so $$.......

heres the link susans posted
