for a bridesmaids dress?

my sister (who lives in CA) just brought her dress to a David's Bridal near her and she lost a lot of weight since her dress came in. so it does need a lot of work.

But I thought $135 was excessive. any thoughts?

THAT IS A LOT.. TELL HER TO GO TO SOMEONE LOCAL LIKE IN THE HOUSE. IT WILL BE CHEAPER.

she already paid for it (you have to pay for everything in advance at David's).

I know, it's a lot. and I feel so bad that she is getting ripped off I wish she lived here. I wouldn't have let her do it for that much.

That's a whole new dress!

When is she coming for the wedding? Maybe she can mail it in? Take her measurements professionally and ship it to a seamstress? Or find a private seamstress in CA? I think $135 is too much!

it is definitely too much, but she already paid for it and left there. too late. I just wish she would have asked around for a good seamstress in her area before going there. but, she is stubborn as heck. and it's going to cost her.

IMO, yes. We just looked at BM dresses today and they capped the alterations at $65.

Holy moly! I lost 25 lbs between measurements and alterations for my best friend's wedding and it cost me $50. (Including taking 6 inches off the hem too)

it's crazy right?

she bought a size 14 dress in July. I didn't know (none of us did) that it would only take 3 weeks to come in. so I guess she went down a size or 2 in the last 3 months.

It's so much easier to TAKE IN a dress than let out, so don't worry about that.

As far as the alterations - that's absolutely a rip off. The absolute MOST alterations for a BM dress should be $65/$70....
