Is $170 too much for......

A tuxedo rental? My FH and I went tonight and that is the price they quoted us. We went to tuxedo park in Carle place. It was a really nice place and the service was great. I am just curious what everyone else paid or is paying.

I think that's high. for $30 more, he can buy a Ralph Lauren tux at Syms.

DH paid $130 and I think that included the shoes ( any kind he wanted) it was a good name tux as well I just can't think of the name. We were very happy with them and had everything in stock to try on.

ETA: I ment DH's GMS and the dads. DH's was Free.
I forgot how much the RB was between $60-$75

You can try Sal's Fashions in Massapequa - that's who we used. DH got both his tuxes for free so because of that the GMs were a little on the expensive side.

DH's guys paid $108 with tax and we got 3 free rentals for DH and 2 kids because we ordered 11 total. We used Feldmen Esquire on Merrick road in Merrick/Bellmore. They also have a location in Lynbrook which was great for people that lived closer to that one. They were excellent to work with and everyone's tux was perfect!!

I think you went to the place we're using. Ours are $175. It's a little high -- we were thinking more like $130-40, but I don't think they're ridiculously overpriced. The quality seemed better than some of the other rentals we've seen. But the most important thing for us was that our GMs wouldn't be uncomfortable with that price. Of course, after BUYING FH's tux from there, $175 didn't seem like a lot!

we got ours at Men's Wearhouse, we got 15% off the GM tuxes and the grooms is free, so the final price was $108 each

I think that is a little high- but it does depend on what your GM are comfortable with. We first went to AFter Hours, and the tux we wanted there was 154 after tax. The GM started flipping out! ha. (well, all of them are traveling out of state, so it was another added expense) So, we then went to Men's Warehouse, who were able to quote us a very similar tux for under 100, and it included shoes and socks! But, I still liked the one at After Hours better, so we called them back and saw if they could match the price- and they did!
So, my advice is if you really like that tux, see if you could find it cheaper somewhere else, and maybe they will work with you to keep your business!
Or, just have your FH talk to his guys, and if they are cool with it, just go for it :)

For our wedding the GM paid like 85.
In the wedding that we went to and my DH was a GM..paid 180!

1. quality of tux and service was terrible at both places

2. in person and in pics...both tuxes looked the same...

We also went to tuxedo park and my FI wanted the super100 fabric (which is a very light fabric) and that of course was alot more expensive then the normal tux. With tax it came to $190!!!! We went to other tuxedo places and nobody had that kind of tux so we had to go with tuxedo park. Oh, and FI's wasn't free and the dads are paying full price which I was not happy about. FI paid an extra $20 towards each guys tux b/c he felt bad. We asked each guy if they minded and all of them didnt care b/c its a lighter fabric ( we are getting married in August, and we have alot of big guys in the party).
If you could go with a cheaper one I would. Tuxedo park is nice but its crazy to spend that much if you really dont have to. My girls spent less for their dresses and they get to keep theirs.

We used Tuxedo Park because of location. We didn't want our out of town groomsmen to be running all over the place--my DH lives near the Carle Place location, so we picked out the tuxes there, and our reception and church service was in the Huntington area, so we picked them up there. Yes, the prices were a tad more expensive, but for the convenience of everything, we felt the extra $20 was worth it. Also, they were able to do the few alterations we needed on the spot, so that's also something to consider. Good Luck making your decisioin!

I've heard that some tux rentals let the groom rent his for free if all his grooms men and ushers rent theirs from the same company. I'm not using tuxes at my wedding so I don't know much about it. If I were you I would shop around.

I think it is high, but my fi and his guys paid more than that ($220) for a rental at Tuxedo Park as well. I can't recommend that place enough! The service (Bob is the best, IMO), the selection, the fact that the tuxes are barely used...it is worth the price!
Yes, you can buy a tux for $200, but then you have to buy shoes, shirt, tie, pocket square, cufflinks, etc. The rental price gives you everything and you are guaranteed a great looking BP. They have everyone put all their tuxes on the day of pick up so they ensure that it fits perfectly. Well worth it...and none of the horror stories heard at other tux places...these guys know what they're doing at Tuxedo Park!
For pics, you can see my pics...they had the Perry Ellis black on black pinstripe tux...they looked so cute!

Way too high!!! We payed 125 with shoes - groom is free and fathers were 1/2 off! We went to Dante's in Westbury and their service is exceptional and the quality of the tuxes are great! The guys were very happy with the service, price and the tux even how the shoes were comfortable!!!
