My friend went to Princess Bridals in Farmingdale and they charged her the maximum cap price of $250 for a hem on the bottom and to take the dress in on the side 1 inch. Isn't that a LOT??? How much did you pay for alterations??

I paid $100 to have my bustle made including little lace flowers to cover the hooks and to take the bust in on my gown.
My sister is paying $45 to have the hem shortened and to shorten the straps on her dress.

I am paying $200 for all alterations. Not sure what it will include yet, but I have lost about 15 lbs since I ordered the dress, and am having a bustle, so I think I will make out okay.

Nope, I don't think it's too much. I'm paying more than that.

That's how much I was quoted for JUST the hem and a French bustle!

a bridesmaid gown is completely different then a wedding dress...AND to do a bustle...
if you took that wedding dress to the cleaners and had them do hems, taking in the waist or bust area...PLUS the bustle...You will most likely pay more that 200!

That sounds about right to me. Taking something to a cleaners as opposed to a seamstress is always goig to be a difference. $250 is how much they charge at RK Bridal, and they are supposed to be one of the cheaper places in NYC.
I am paying $200 for a bustle and a hem in Brooklyn, done by a Bridal Seamstress.

My alterations are capped at $175 PLUS $10 for each point on the bustle.

I'd say that's a decent price...I brought my gown to a seamstress in NYC and it cost a bit more and I didn't need a lot of alterations.

i payed 200 for a hem, bustle, neckline ( had to make the halter tighter) and for darts on my chest area ( I lost weight around my armpit area- had to be stress weight so they had to make a special stitch to tighten that without ruining the beading.
