Is $5pp, plus tax and gratuity too much for a chocolate fountain?

For 125 people, that comes to $625. For 150 people, that comes to $750! Plus 8.625% tax and 20%gratuity! That's almost $1000 for a chocolate fountain!

Is that insane?!?! Dippings would all be included.

But, at least I don't have to worry about an outside vendor coming in to do it. I just don't want an outside place to look cheap (with plastic plates and skimpy dippings). The Crescent would make a nice show since they don't want to look cheap themselves, ya know?

$625 doesn't seem so bad... until you add that damn tax and gratuity!!!

I am by no means an expert, but that does sound like a lot considering some of the reception halls I priced out wanted $10pp for a full viennese hour (including the fountain).

Hope that helps.

It's nice to have but you just have to think, what are people really going to remember from your wedding.... the chocolate fountain? lol
I'm sure everyone will be too stuffed to enjoy it.

I think that's a lot for a chocolate fountain. Can you try to deal with them to lower the price or add on more desserts?

That IS lower! They originally wanted to charge me $8-9 per person!!!!

I know a lot of halls throw it in for free or use it as a free 'extra'. I did pay for mine but it was less that $5 (although I can't remember exactly HOW much....)

Maybe keep it on the backburner and if you don't make your minumum ask them to throw it in for free.

personally, i don't think they are worth it. Just think of it, that's some really nice dinners or spa treatments during your hm.

You have to bargain with these places, they will adjust their prices if you are firm with them. I mean dont be rude or anything just see waht deal you can work out with them...I got mine PLUS an Ice sculpture thrown in for free...

I dont think it is worth it for melted chocolate and fruit. My RH wanted the same price for it. I did hear some places throw it in.

Honestly I have researched outside vendors and that is about average or even less then what they are looking to charge.

If you want it that much, go for it

My hall is not including it and I am paying the extra $$ for it. I just think it is a nice touch and everyone enjoys it

Sounds about right to me. I think my hall charged $750 and I was supposed to have 150 people.

Think about all the other things you can do with $1000.

honestly, it does sound a bit pricey... we are paying 10pp for the full vienesse table including the chocolate fountain. if we just wanted the fountain, it would have been 500 flat fee.

We were fortunate enough that our hall threw it in.
