With all the baby talk and pregnancies happening does it make you wonder??????
'Do I want to start trying?'
I'm not sure but I prayed that I wouldn't get pregnant before I was married. Now I'm married. Is there ever a right time??????

Re: Is a Baby in your NEAR future????
As I am 36 and FH is 42, I knew a baby would be in our near future, but I didnt think I would wind up pregnant before the wedding (8 weeks, 5 days). Everyone told me not to think it was going to be easy b/c of our ages, but apparently, not so much of a problem for either of us

Re: Is a Baby in your NEAR future????
I don't know how near, because we don't plan on starting to try until February '07. I've already had numerous conversations with my GYN about it, so any pregnancy will be fully planned.

Not even thinking about it until next summer at the earliest.

We would ideally like to have a house first. I won't go off the pill until then.
Smae here...which means realisitcally 3 years.

There is no such thing as the right time really. You can try and plan it out, but the truth is, life happens and all the planning in the world won't make it ever feel 'right/perfect.' Want to know the secret as to why??? Because the moment you get pregnant, your entire world changes. Your whole life becomes dictated by a tiny, tiny person. The world you knew will never be the same...and that is why even with all the planning and dreaming, there's never a perfect time. But, it's a wonderful time. You won't trade it for the world...although you will trade those sleepless nights for anything.

Re: Is a Baby in your NEAR future????
We are probably going to start trying next summer. We aren't going to wait for the house or whatever (although hopefully we will be in one next year) because like Cheryl said, there never really is a 'right' time. I think if you keep waiting for that perfect time, when everything is exactly how you want it to be, well then, you'd be waiting a long time. We just want to have a year to ourselves and be selfish and then bring a baby into our lives.

Re: Is a Baby in your NEAR future????
We both sort of have baby fever because we feel like we already have the house, we're in great shape financially, we've already lived together for more than 2 years, so why wait, right?
Of course, the other side of me still wants to wait because I'm only 25 and I feel like it's so young...
We're waiting until our first anniversary to start trying, but there are some days when we talk about it and want to start trying right away...

DH & I spoke about it & want to wait until after our 1 year anniversary to start to try...We truly want to enjoy each other without the demand of another person in our life. We have the house already & right now we are making it a home! This is the 1st time DH & I are living out of our parents homes!

Re: Is a Baby in your NEAR future????
Let me just say that you NEVER know when you are 'ready' - like I keep saying - we did nothing different after we got married, and all of a sudden - there it was!!!
My DH is only working part time after losing his job, we rent a 2 bedroom house and the baby will have to sleep in our room until we can rent a larger house (no money to buy on LI!)
My career is really moving forward, i have a board exam to take in November, I am leaving for my HM in less than 2 weeks - this was definitely not planned....
AND....
I couldnt have been happeir.
If someone asked me before I found out, I would have said - HELL no - give me a year.... now, I can't wait to hold my baby!!!

Not always true is right. I was reading literature at the gyno's office on this the other day, and it said that you can get pregnant 24 hours after coming off the pill - this is how people get pregnant when they forget one or whatever. I think some people who are charting say that it takes a few months coming off the pill because sometimes it can take a little while for your periods to go back to being regular after being on the pill.

Oh yes!!! AND not only that but the probability of multiples is greater b/c the ovaries release a few eggs coming off the pill.

Re: Is a Baby in your NEAR future????
oh yeah you have to be super careful when you come off the pill ( if you arent ready to have kids yet)
my sister was on the pill for 8 years. . . she decided to go off thinking she would have a few more months before getting pregnant - and she got pregnant before the month was up!
THEN a few years later. . .same thing and my nephew was born!
so i won't be going off until i am 100% ready! (after a year or two at least)

The probability of multiples (usually fraternal)also increases if:
1) You are older - closer to 40. 2) If you have a mother, sister or an aunt who has had fraternal twins (usually mother's side) - I have a sister AND an aunt who had fraternal twin pregnancies and my maternal rgandfather was a fraternal twin as well.
(Lucky me, I fit the bill on BOTH of these criteria)
There was a recent study that implied that there is an increased chance of multiples when the mother's diet is full of dairy products. My guess is that is has to do with the hormones the cows take in - buti t could be anyone's guess.
(Um anyone know of my love for cheese? Oy I'll end up with triplets!)

Re: Is a Baby in your NEAR future????
DH and I were discussing this the other day. We decided that we're going to really start house hunting in January 2007 and hopefully we'll be in a house by 2008. Then we can start TTC.
I'm on the pill now, but we agree that it would be ok if our plan didn't work out and something happened sooner. So I can't say NEAR future, but it's on the agenda!!
