We are in love with a band and really want to book them but we're trying to save some money. Do you all think that it will sound bad if we eliminate the bass? We could save a few hundred bucks I just don't want it to sound really bad...
We would be having a keyboard w/vocals, 1 male vocalists, 1 female vocalist, drums, guitar.
I have to add that the keyboard person is extremely strong and they say that he can kind of substitute the bass because he has a strong left hand..he sings just like Billy Joel and is really talented on the keyboard..
Thanks,
Rebecca

Re: Is a Bass needed in a wedding band?
You must have a bass. Get rid of keyboard before a bass.
You need guitar, bass drums and vocals.
Otherwise, the sound will be too 'tinny' and high pitched. Try listening to a song on your computer and open up the volume and shift the bass to nothing and you'll see waht i'm talking about.

Agreed with Leesha! My FH is a bassist and i've been around bands since i was 13....you need a bass. Along with the drums, it is the backbone of any song. Eliminate the keyboards before the bass!!!! 100%

I'm going to have to agree with everyone else....lose the keyboardist before the bass.
