And does an usher wear a tux? Is he in pics?
There can be a difference, if you want it to be!
I have 2 groomsmen who will be standing with the Groom at the altar. We have one usher whose only responsilbility it will be will to walk guests to their seats and walk my mother down the aisle.
All of them are wearing tuxes, but the usher will be in a black tux.

Technically they are one and the same. However, you can designate additional guys to be ushers if you want. We are doing that. FH has picked the guys to stand with him - they are his groomsmen, but to include his nephews we have asked them to be ushers and escort the guests. They will also be walking with FMIL into the reception.
ETA: They are wearing different tuxes than FH's GM, but since they're family they will be in the pictures.

Re: Is a Groomsman different from an Usher?
Actually my Mother and I just had this discussion. And I apparently will have groomsmen and ushers. I always thought the groomsmen were the ushers, but she says no with the size of our family it will be some people's special jobs to make sure they get programs and find their way to their seats. However...now you girls got me thinking.....Do they wear what they want, or do I have to make sure they have a tux??
I thought that 'groomsmen' was just a new name for 'ushers'. I didn't think they were seperate. The groomsmen always helped people walk down the isle. Part of the job!!

i also assumed they were the same... what do i know? lol i guess i am technically having 2 groomsmen and one usher... but they are all wearing the same exact thing. frankly, i don't think i'll have too many show up to the church that i'll need more than the one usher to seat them. but if i do, the GM can lend a hand!

They can be the same people if you want, it doesn't matter. Ushers seat people before the ceremony starts, while groomsmen stand at the altar during the ceremony. Our groomsmen will be acting as ushers as well so we're not going to ask separate people to do it. I don't know about the tux or being in pics though.
