Is a total wedding budget of $40,000 realistic?

Original post by 2006bride

Hi, I want to have a really nice wedding at the Harrison House or the Carltun on a Saturday night in the Spring/Summer. Do you think it can be done on a $40K budget? Or would I need closer to $60K?

THANKS!!!!!

It really depends on what kind of floweres you want, how many people...etc..... I think for the carltun it is probably closer to 50 to 60 thousand. You have to supply all the flowers in all the rooms right?

Your total of $31,500 for the 175 min. at the Harrison House doesn't include 20% service charge and tax...and the service charge doesn't include tips (which is a little something I learned on this website). So, you're really looking at over $40k for just the venue.

Happy planning!

It all depends. I blew most of my budget on the hall and food ($27,000) - but have managed to keep everything else under 10K total - including honeymoon. My total budget for a SAt night wedding at an amazing place in summer, 125 people is 37,000. i think I did pretty good.

If the venue is going to cost you close to 40K - I think you can bump it to 50 and have a beautiful wedding.

Like the other girls said, it depends on what you want. If your taste is as expensive as those halls, getting over $80,000 for everything is easy. Our budget is at $65,000 and we are not gettting charged half of what the Carltun and Harrison House charge. It really is amazing though..........you could spend anywhere from 1000 to 8000 on flowers!! Photography....we saw prices from 3000 to 8000!!! It all depends on quality and reputation. Ehat we did was started out with a budget for everything...even before seeing vendors. If we needed tyo adjust up, the money had to come from some other item. If it went down, we kept the money in a separate catagory for and unknown expenditures.....its a pain in the butt!
