Is anyone considering Bali Indonesia or the Maldives?

Is anyone considering Bali Indonesia or the Maldives?

Just wondering if anyone has looked into these 2 locations. They are breathtaking locations. But i'm a little weary considering this is where the Tsunami hit. Also, I have read that there have been terrorist attacks in bali on American tourists.
Check out 2 of the hotels I found - one is for Bali & the other is for Maldives.

bali, indonesia

the maldives

We were considering the Maldives, but it wouldn't work out because after the wedding (which is in Austria) we are going to NJ to have a reception there for those who couldn't make it..so instead of flying back n forth we just decided to go to Mexico from NJ.

But I really would not let the Tsunami or the Terrorist attack keep you from going to either of these places. Natural disasters and now terrorist acts can really happen anywhere. We went to Egypt a week after there was an attack last year and we never even considered canceling and I'm glad we didn't because it was one of the best vacays ever!

we considered it... but it is just WAY too far for us! (I would have done it, but my FH HATES flying and tahiti was a biggg compromise for him!)

although is is soooo beautiful! (that's where we first saw overwater bungalows...) the ritz carlton in bali looks beautiful!

omg Hayley!! That is a gorgeous gorgeous hotel!!
You always make the best suggestions.
But would the fact that indonesia was hit by the tsunami scare you off from going here? FH is set on bora bora but I'm just trying to get more ideas before we book anywhere.

personally, it wouldn't scare me.. but i know that my parents definitely would not want me to go! let's face it though, bad things can happen anywhere.... we're taking risks in our daily lives just by walking/driving down the street! so i think it's wise to be cautious, but you only live once! if i had never seen bora bora, maybe i would have continued trying to convince Steve to go to Bali, but I think that bora bora just looks so beautiful also, that it's a good compromise for us!

I wanted to do Dubai/Maldives but the seasons were not in our favor. It was the hottest months in Dubai and the rainy monsoon in the Maldives.

I've been to Bali. The resorts and sites were AMAZING. However, the sand and beaches weren't that great. I don't think Bali beaches can compare to Hawaii, Caribbean, or French Polynesia. The culture and spectacular sites can outweigh the subpar beaches though. Also, the dollar goes a long way in Indonesia. The spas were fantastic and reasonably priced for 5 star standards.

Thanks it is beautiful and i am so excited. The airfare is not included in the price =(

We are going to dubai as well in the end of june/beginning of july and it will definitly be its hottest temp. going up to 105 F sometimes but its okay we really dont mind. The maldives are also great during the summer months even though ive also read about their monsoon season many people go around that time of year and dont have problems with the weather. If it rains a bit its not a big deal
