Is anyone considering selling their gown after their wedding?
I went way over my dress budget and I'm considering selling my gown after the wedding. I know I won't make much back on it but at least I can make something back. Is anyone considering this, or is it too sentimental for you think of parting with?
A part of me wants to keep it, but the more logical side of me is thinking of what we can buy that we need if I sold it afterwards.

Re: Is anyone considering selling their dres after their wedding?
Sellling it and putting the money to good use make a lot of sense but I'm a real mush and don't think I could actually do it.

I am a major pack rat- I never throw anything away. But I keep thinking what am I going to do with the dress? Is it just going to sit in a huge box taking taking up a lot of space? Will I ever use it again? So I am thinking about donating it. I haven't decided yet, but it seems like a nice thing to do. dress donation

Im thinking about giving mine to a drag queen. Sad thing is, he will look better in it than I do. Bit*h!

I would have to hope to be lucky enough to stay my size forever for that to happen. That is a lot of pressure and I am not that small.

Re: Is anyone considering selling their gown after their wedding?
I'm a packrat by nature so naturally I want to keep it- I am extremely sentimental. But I am trying to be practical. A friend of my family sent alot of money to preserve her gown for her daughter and on a whim a few years later decided to break to airtight seal and open the box and the dress had not even been dry cleaned, had stains on it, and was in terrible condition.
I love my dress so much - but I don't think if I have a daughter she'd be interested in wearing my dress with the ways styles have changed so much.
Also there is a place in Manhatten that you can donate your dres to and they will sell it to less fortunate brides - all the money from the sale goes to breast cancer research - This is what I will be doing.

I thought I would - until I bought it. When FH suggested it as a joke, I started to cry and I'm NOT like that. I can't part with it, even though I'll never wear it again. It means too much to me.

No...I'm too much of a mush. My mom threw out her wedding dress and I really wish she would have kept it. At least for me to see it.

I will keep it its the one and only time I will ever in my life have something THAT expensive in my closet, besides maybe years from now a daughter or grandaughter would like to wear it

I'm ready to sell mine, or donate it, after we get back from the honeymoon. My FH says no, that I should keep it. I told him that he can pay for the cleaning and storage.

Re: Is anyone considering selling their gown after their wedding?
I thought about doing this since what are the odds that I will have a daughter and she would want to wear my dress on her wedding day.
But... I know that I would probably only get a fraction of what I paid for it. So I doubt I will sell it. And even thought I am not too sentimental, I don't know if I would be able to part with it.
