a little scared for the future? I just heard last night that FIVE people I went to high school with are ALL getting divorced. I just can't believe it!
I was up thinking about it and thought to myself what if this happens to me? Some of these people lived together before marriage, some were high school sweet hearts so what went wrong?
Sorry I know this isn't the best topic for the boards, but how do you guys feel about the future? Anyone have toughts on this?:scratch

FH & I joke about it all the time actually...he says that unless some of my friends start divorcing to meet the statistics, chances are it'll be us instead...haha
I guess I don't sweat it because if it happens it happens...life goes on and that's all you can do.
I have a friend that just got hit with divorce papers...he's been married 15 years with 2 kids...i am hoping things work out, but i think the most important thing in a relationship is communication and allowing the other person to be themselves, and not try to control them. That seems to be the issue with most couples I know.

I think that you have to just have faith in yourselves, and have faith in love. You can't change what has happened or what will happen... you just have to have faith that things will work out.

On a side note, I am not nervous about divorce.. I am more nervous of one of us getting seriously ill or dying suddenly.. (which is worse than your topic of divorce on this board.. lol) a lot of it has to do with my mother's sudden death. I have such fears now about that kind of crap.. I try not to let it bother me though because I know it's just my experiences and fears getting in the way.. I
'm sure seeing 5 of your peers get divorced has more to do with it than you realize.. It's scary.. but we all have our 'fears'.. You aren't alone! Things will be okay though.. Just remember, Keep the faith!

Coming from a divorced family... I think about it all the time...I also have been having some second doubts...not sure if I'm as ready as I thought I would be.
Its part of life...it could happen to anyone...you need to communicate and respect one another if you want to make this work!

Me and FH are great together and get along fine. The scary part is that most of us get along great with our Fh otherwise we wouldn't be marrying them.
It's very scary that FIVE people in there late twenties are all getting divorced and most or all of them have lived togther before marying. I don't have any doubts about the wedding, but it is very scary that these people only lasted one or two years before calling it quits. Maybe there was no communication? The bottom line is it's a scary thought.
