Is anyone else buying a house in a different state?
My fiance and I are having a house built for us in Florida because we are simply tired of the cold weather and expensive housing here on Long Island. Anyone else in the same situation?

We want to buy in NJ...we currently live in Brooklyn and the price of a house here is OUTRAGEOUSLY EXPENSIVE...besides I don't want to live here much longer anyway. All of my family and friends have moved out of state...either PA or NJ.
Since PA is too far of a commute to the city for work...we're thinking about moving to Central NJ. We love the area and have seen quite a few houses/townhomes that are very affordable.

We moved to CA, b/c I couldn't take the cold winters anymore...I have adapted so well...It was a bit cold last week (low 60s ) but will be in the 70s all weekend and next week...
It so makes a difference...its not as gloomy...you don't have to feel bad about staying in and veggie out on a nice day...b/c there are tons of them...I have not been sick since we moved here...except when we landed in NY for a visit...
as for pricing...well we have worse prices here if you can believe it...but a lot more condo/townhouse options...

I cannot wait for the warm weather! It has been in the mid 70's this entire week where we are building in Florida.

We are building in Port St. Lucie which is on the southeast coast. I am not familiar with your area. Where is it located?

We're on the West coast. Equal to Port St. Lucie.
We are about 30 min south of Sarasota. (our nearest airport will be Fort Myers)

What point are you in the building process? Last week we got the update that the sheet rock had been spackled and painted and that the cabinets were being put in. I can't wait! We are most likely going to be closing sometime in February.

We are in the process of just starting.
We got quotes on everything (how much its going to be to clear our land, how much permits are, etc....)
We have a builder we love and has been a HUGE help to us in the whole process. We havent 'officially' signed anything yet. We're hoping to make one more trip down and that be our trip when we sign things. Hopefully this will be over the next 2 months.

We built a house in Northern VA. After I left NYC to attend college I lost my love for the city and decided to live down here.
We love it here!! We tell everyone come on down. I love to visit NYC but living there is out of the question for me.

I would Absolutly Love to move to Vegas. FH would like to goto Cali. My Brother and My FMIL both live in Florida. FMIL is in Boca Raton. And my Brother is in Deerfield Beach my parents have a condo in West Palm Beach. FH sister is selling her house and moving to Florida with her 4 kids FH is devistated and so am I. She has the best kids and I dont want to see them go. FH father and grandparents are also selling and moving to Florida. He will have no one here but my family. I like Florida but.... I don't know if I could live there.

We just moved to Connecticut, in Derby. Long term, I would like to go more south, like the Carolinas. But DH has a buisness in Stamford, so that is not likely for a long while I love our new house, but hate the cold, snowy winters!

We are going to be looking in the Pocono Mtn. area.... still have not decided to build or not.
