Are you using anything? I'm starting a very strict diet this month. No red meat, no pasta and no rice.

if by fasting you mean, trying to lose weight, then im in!

my first fitting is 8/30

my plan is fruit for breakfast, soup (under200 calories) for lunch, regular dinner in smaller portions, no dessert unless im starving and i'll eat more fruit

Haha, sorry, should have given more details. I meant fasting for the month of Ramadan (wasn't sure if we had any other Muslim ladies on here).

i know. i asked him how he's doing and he said he's ok but it's starting to kick in. he said that it at least gets easier as the month passes by.

after i posted, i realized you probably meant ramadan

sorry you have to fast! i remember being in HS and one of my best friends was muslim had to fast and it was so hard for her because we were athletes. but ramadan was in november then so the days were at least shorter

i'm sure there are others on here i can't even fast until 2pm, let alone the whole day

no worries at all! I don't mind the fast at all, I actually love this time of the year and I'm excited I get to fast. I couldn't fast last year because it's when my vertigo was really kicking up so I would get extremely dizzy, but I'm feeling pretty good and just excited I can do it for the right reasons Yeah, the day is pretty long now - I think like 4:30am until 8:15pm or so. It goes down to 7:30pm by end of the month.

Yup it's true. Your body has to adjust to the change, the first few days are always the hardest, but for a lot of people the most rewarding

Re: Is anyone else fasting this month?

To quickly summarize it --- the fast lasts for a month. Every morning, you wake up before sun-rise and eat, drink, brush your teeth, etc., (I did it at 4am this morning) and then can't put anything in your mouth including water until sun-down (tonight it's 8:12pm I think). After the month of fasting ends, then there's a big celebration - called Eid

Nope

I always assumed that being type 1 diabetic would probably eliminate any fasting even if I was Muslim or Jewish or any other religion that includes days of fasting

Good luck with it! Do you keep working out with the fasting, or just it just make it too hard!
