Is anyone else having a hard time...

Is anyone else having a hard time...

finding bridesmaid dresses?

This has been one of, if not THE most agonizing experiences. I only have 4 bridesmaids and the color is black, but I am losing my mind! I can't find one that I like, and that they are content with.

I hope tomorrow goes better...

I am starting my shopping for BM dresses tomorrow.

If you don't find actual BM dresses you can try Ann Taylor, J Crew and department stores as well. You may want to think about them each wearing a different black dress so they are easier to find

Have you tried going to Lillettes in Baldwin? Thats where we got ours, I though they had a decent selection.

Also, I think that RK Bridal and Kleinfelds (both in Manhattan) have a large selection.

It is MUCH easier to pick a BM dress out when you can touch them & see them in person, everything I saw online & in magazines looked horrible on real people ...

RK definately has a large selection so it is nice when you can compare all the ones you like and then decide. The dress I selected was by Jim Hjelm and the pic is in my album. I am sorry i dont know how to post them here.

If you go to brides.com it has a list of all different designers so you can look at them and maybe narrow down what style you like.

Hope this helps and Good Luck!!!!

What about letting the girls wear different dresses?

I didn't do this but its something I wish I had done.....

I went through this too....finally I just gave in and let them pick their own style...I chose the designer, color and fabric though.

I definately agree Rk Bridal has tons and tons,, you will definately find something there and like Cado6o8 said you can compare then right there and then to see if you like anyone more than the other.. Well good luck i know if can be challenging especially when you are thinking about what everyone will like or differ body shaped..

Re: Is anyone else having a hard time...

I had a hard time picking out BM dresses and just was not that interested in it. All my girls were scatterred all over the WORLD!! SO, since I was having a black, white and red wedding I had them order the 'Diana' dress from Ann Taylor in black and they all purchased them online and altered them on their own time. It was so much easier and they looked fantastic! They are gorgeous silk dresses! On has already worn it again and another one had it altered to a cocktail dress for a wedding she is attending in May!

Good Luck!

Why not let them pick black dresses (and one designer so all the color is the same) that they feel most comfortable in and then approve or disapprove.

I had a hard time too. I just made it my mission that no other wedding item would be taken care of until i picked a BM dress. It took me 3 or so weeks, but it forced me to do it! Definitely go from shop to shop though until you find something you like. I found looking on line to be of little help.

Don't worry, everything will work out!! Finding the bridesmaid dresses was my biggest nightmare. I have seven girls and my 2 sisters gave me hell about everything. I felt like they were disagreeing just to disagree. well last night we FINALLY (after 6 months) decided what dress and all my girls got measured. What a relief!! and they all loved it!

I dont know what style you're looking for but I went with JCrew Bridal. All my girls measured themselves and then got them on FINAL SALE - only like 130 bux each.

I just wore one for a wedding and everyone was saying they were the prettiest bridesmaids dresses they ever saw - they aren't 'BRIDESMAIDSY'
