IS anyone else here CONSTANTLY fighting with their mom?
I just got into a HUGE fight with my mother....a screaming match. She is acting starnge now that I am engaged. She is giving me this guilt trip as if I am abandoning her. I can't even talk to her. She was supposed to go with me to the GTG and now she isnt goign. She even called me a ***** and said I am trying to kill her by giving her a heart attack. I can't deal!!!!!!!!

im sorry shes doing that... my mother is also upset that im leaving,i guess i just try to ignore it and realize that she's upset that the normal balance is being interupted, but i know she is happy that her daughter is happy(its just tough for her to show it alot)...... maybe you can bring a girlfriend today?

I'm sorry...I'm sure she's having separation anxiety and doesn't know how to deal with it. Maybe you can try to be extra-sensitive and sit down with her and have a little hsat...maybe go out to lunch with her, just you and her and enjoy each other's company?

I wish we could 'just chat' like 2 normal people, but I have tried so many times, and it is impossible. We always end up yelling at each other. I just don't know how to talk to her without the intervention of a psychiatrist . I have a headache.
ETS: Ok, I think she is still going. But right now she is on the phone with her sister crying and saying how evil I am. Great, my mom is going to the GTG with Satan...any girls who are going: If you want to avoid sitting at Satan's table, just look for me...I'll be the girl with horns and a tail.....

Nessie I am sorry about the fight with your mom. Its too bad that she is having a lot of difficulty dealing with you leaving the nest. Hopefully this will pass and then you can get to a point where you can discuss this calmly. Good luck!

My mom and I don't see eye to eye a lot, she throws the I am paying thing in my face often. I usually just walk away before it turns into a fight. I don't need the stress!!

that's why me and my fiance are paying for everything...b/c she would DEFINITELY be the first to throw the 'I'm paying' thing in my face. That is SO WRONG to do. I hope that if I have a daughter and she gets married, I don't do the same to her...

I KNOW when I have a daughter I will not do it to her. I already told FH that we need to start saving for when the daughter we don't have yet gets married. That is one thing we are definitely paying for. I want her to have the wedding SHE wants.

I realized after a lot of wedding talk that parents are happy for us that we're getting married, but also feel like they are losing us, which is not really true. I see in my family that after someone gets married, they actually get more attached to the parents. Give your mom some time to accept the fact that her baby is getting married. I know that my parents are still trying to. Good luck.

I think it might be easier for me b/c I live on my own, but i worry about FMIl alittle since FH lives at home.
My friend went through this to the piont where her mom said she wasn't going to the ceremony, b/c the 'wrong' preist was marrying them.
In the end, she was great on the day of and ended up dancing her but off!
I've made sure to tell my mom all about this, so she will hopefully be aware of it if she starts to act liek that.
Did you & your mom fight a lot before you were engaged.

I am having the same problems with my Mom, unfortunately almost every step of the way has been a major fight. Hopefully on the wedding day all will be forgotten and we can have a good time!
