Is Anyone Else's Wedding Nothing Like What You Envisioned You Would Have??
I was just wondering if I am the only one that feels this way... My wedding is nothing like what I envisioned I would have. I don't know if this is a 'bad' thing necessarily... it's just soooo different from what I always dreamed about. For example:
I always thought I would get married in the summer on the water. Instead I am getting married in the winter nowhere near water.
I always thought I would have a huge poofy dress... Instead I have a simple plain A-Line dress.
I always thought I would have a really simple tiara if I even wore one at all. Instead, I bought one of the most detailed, intricate tiaras I could find. And it's pretty big!
Anyone else feeling this way????

ME!!
I actually thought my wedding would be less frilly! I am kind of plain jane...went from looking at VERY plain dresses to bows and lace and all that good stuff!
I am right with you on the head piece! i wanted nothing and the one I am looking at is detailed and now I want a cathedral veil!!!

Same here, I went from being a girly girl to a tomboy and have stayed there for a while until this wedding!!! When did I become a girly girl princess again??
I thought my wedding gown would be red, it's white, instead my BM dresses are red!! I went from expecting a lot of people to a small wedding and I found the most intricate detailed tiara also!! (But it's like nothing I've seen, and in that I've stayed true to myself!)

As I have gotten older, I tend to want a more sophisticated wedding - more like an upscale dinner party than a froo-froo white flowered, puffy dress, cutsey knick-knacks all over the place type of thing. That would have been my wedding 10 years ago. Now I am thinking 'What do I need all of that crap for, I'm 35!'

Its actually what I thought it would be. Simple a-lined dress, no tiara, lots of friends and family and great food. And of course my wonderful FH!

It's funny but yea, in some ways I thought it would be different. ESPECIALLY my dress. I always thought I wanted a big, Cinderella type dress but my dress is just a simple A line. I always thought I would marry Matthew McConaughey....

I actually always wanted a simple wedding...the only thing that really mattered to me was the wedding dress.
I had pictured gettting married in Disney or on a cruise.
FH and my parents actually convinced my to have the big wedding...and even though its so much work....Im glad that they did.

Absolutely!!!!! I always envisioned a ceremony and reception on the beach, wearing a straight plain white dress, no more than 100 guests, no tiara, no veil.
What I am having is a church wedding (a mass no less), standard LI reception hall, over 200 guests invited (I am hoping so many people say no), I have a tiara, but its small and I bought a hair pin, & my dress is A line w/crystals.
So different. I am hoping it will all be for the best.
BTW--Great Idea for a Thread!!!

I always wanted to get married in Disney. When it came time to planning it was less expensive here and I had to think which was more important - wedding in disney or a house. I choose house but am very happy with all things we planned. Also I always though I would be married in spring but now getting married day before Thanksgiving.

Our wedding is definitely not what I envisioned it to be....but it's not a bad thing at all, just different. I always wanted to have my wedding reception in the city at the Boathouse in Central Park. Instead, we're having it way out on the island at Giorgio's. I always thought my colors would be the colors of fall with golds, oranges, reds, and browns. We were able to keep the reds but with platinum instead.
But I guess the biggest factor in all of these changes is my FH. He likes to be involved and give his opinion. He always reminds me, its our wedding, not just mine. So, we may not be married yet, but we got a head start in the compromising department.

Definately with regards to my dress.... I wanted a very plain dress, and was even thinking about getting a white bridesmaid dress. I wanted no beading, not strapless, and not big. However, my dress has a very poufy skirt, has a beaded, strapless top!

i think about what FH would like instead of just what i would like...
for example, i'm considering wearing a blusher... cause FH likes that.

honestly it was so much more romantic and stress free than I thought it would be, but I was exhausted. The colors looked AWESOME together! Im glad I agreed not to do the garter and bo-k b/c people casme up to me and said they liked how after the cake they could just party! Everything flowed so perfectly!

Ours was everything we envisioned and more. DH told me while we were eating dinner that it was the fairytale wedding he wanted. Everything was perfect and I am so happy it came together the way it did. You figure you put it together piece by piece, built it from something you both envision and then pray it goes together flawlessly. I wouldn't have changed a thing.

Us too- he has his opinion and what he always wanted which I feel like could 'ruin' my ideallic wedding, but it is about compromise.
I'm having this dilemma now as we pick a site b/c what I've always imagined seems impractical or out of budget.

I never wanted to get married. When I was ten one of the most popular halloween costumes for my age group was the bride dress. My mom bought it for me and I dumped red paint on it and called myself a zombe bride. Before I met joe I only thought about getting married once. I invisioned a wedding on the beach in late August, wearing a bikini. LOL I just wanted a huge beach party! now I'm having a fall medieval wedding.
