Is anyone familiar with brooklyn?
I got a job interview for a school but it's on lafayette ave and nostrand ave, which is close to bedford ave.. I am on google maps checking it out, and I see that pratt and st. joe's university are both over there, and it's closeby to clinton hill, but the school itself is technically in bed stuy.I'm thinking i should probably go for the interview experience, but I was wondering if any of you have some input on the area. I am a little nervous about driving into bed stuy

It's not the safest neighbrohood. I drive by there a lot on my way home from work and I'm pretty familiar with that side of Brooklyn.

I would go for the interview experience. You will be fine, but just know it isn't a cookie cutter type neighborhood.

My school was a few blocks over from there and it is not a great neighborhood. I never felt unsafe though during the day. It was leaving after dark in the winter that freaked me out a bit. Definetly go and check it out but know that it might be a tough school. Mine was awful but I feel that working there made me a much stronger teacher so I wouldnt rule against it.

i think i'll still go for the interview- they do extended days in this school (it's a charter school) so I'm a little worried about getting out of work late. If I were to get out around 2 or 3 then I would be OK with it, but i will have to see

My cousin lived on Nostrand Ave in BK and it definitely isn't the greatest. I agree with the other girls, I would go for the interview experience but you have to consider the days you would be staying late/coming really early for conferences and if you would feel safe walking on your own. My cousin never had any issues but she also just moved to Paris on a whim and got an apt off Craig's List and has done it before with London and St. Croix. I envy her spontaneity but I could never live like that.Welcome New Vendors
