if it's a set price or they give an amount, how do they still get to call it a donation~they should fess up and call it what it is, a freakin' FEE!!! i think that if a person meets all the requirements a church has to get married, they should do it for whatever amount the couple can afford, this is idealistic yes, i know, never going to happen but still i wish the churches were still for ALL the people~(that's my 1st liw vent)

I think its ridiculuos that some people arent able to get married in a church because they cant afford it !

I am and I just saw your FM ; give me a few mins and I'll post the 'fees' for ya!! :)

It is a minimum donation / fee of $300! Hope this helps!

ETA:
There is a cantor fee of $125;
Rehearsal fee of $25;
Recommended tipping to alter server $10 each (ceremony =1; mass=2)

I think that's it but I might be missing one; I'll check tonight when I get home and repost! :)

it's so true~i started thinking & ended up doing an on site ceremony for the principle~ my rh charges per head so it's going to be about 1k, but they are not an organization like the church so it's pretty clear that $ talks, the whole suggested donation thing annoys me to no end, bc i think~~~~~~what if you are a devoted catholic that has done everything right by the religion but you are broke as*, you get scr*wed and that's not fair...damn my GERD is kicking in

Thanks so much..the cantor fee, rehearsal fee, and tipping is on top of the donation fee?? Do you know when they do the rehearsels..is it thursday before the wedding? Also are you signed up for fall pre-cana?? Maybe we will be in the same class...

Anytime! There are some changes - I just looked at my sheet again and here they are:

Church offering - 300
Organist offering- 125
Cantor offering - 100
Rehearsal fee - 25
Altar server - 10 each

I believe they are all fees except the altar servers/rehearsal. I'm paying just what is requested and not tipping on top of that.

As for rehearsals - they were pretty flexible with me.I chose to have mine the day before on a Friday evening (the time choices were 7, 730 and 8 i think)...I'm moving to NC this summer so I'm giong to do my pre-cana down there so I dont have any info about that.

But if you have more questions let me know! Have you set up your first appt yet with the fr.?
