Is anyone getting married on a weekday? If so, what are your plans? concerns? reasons? or anything that can ease my mind because we chose a Thursday evening...
I think that's becoming more and more popular. I've also heard that Thursday is now the night for 'society' weddings. Also, many people in Orthodox communities do weeknight weddings.
It is pretty inconvenient for your guests since they'll likely have to take 1 if not 2 days off, but the people closest to you will be there. If you can accept that you'll have a much smaller guest count than you would on a weekend, then I say go for it.
EYA: To answer your original question more thoroughly, the only reason I'd consider a weeknight wedding is to save money. Maybe you can choose like, the Wednesday before Thanksgiving, that's really cost effective AND people are off the next day. For me personally I'd go nuts because the night before T-day I am cooking, but it's a thought.
How about a weekend daytime wedding? Those are much cheaper.
FH and I def had some financial struggles along the way and postponed our wedding a LONG time. I would say you need to prioritize things, 1) having the most people there possible 2) day vs. evening 3) cost 4) getting married sooner vs. later 5) venue, etc
You can make compromises here and there to make it work.
FH and I did NOT originally plan to get married on a Sunday evening, especially not one without a holiday the day after, but it fell on our anniversary and it allowed us to have the wedding at a hall that is still a stretch but that we'd NEVER afford on a Saturday. One compromise we were not willing to make was we didn't want to have a day wedding..so you have to weight those things. You'd also be surprised at the deals you can find. you might be able to find something within your price range for a weekend, or the day before a holiday most people have off, like I've heard of the day before veteran's day

Re: Is Anyone Getting Married On a WEEKDAY?
You are so right about everything... I know that close family and friends will be there which will make my wedding a lot smaller. The venue told us to invite over 200 people so that we can guarantee the 125 guest count. They also offered us Memorial Day for $20.00 more per person and included a Venetian hour. The daytime rates aren't that much less than the night. He assured us that getting married during the week is a steal at the venue. It looks like me and FH will have to take our chances... Thank You for your feedback.! Where are you getting married? Congrats to you and all the best!!!

Re: Is Anyone Getting Married On a WEEKDAY?
I am getting married on a Friday in May 2012. Our church is booked for 4:00 CH starts at 7:00.
I figure the important people in our lives will get off of work early to see us at the church. if they don't, no big deal to me! I know the people that matter the most will be there ( they are mostly all in the bridal party)

Ours is on a Friday.
I know that a lot of people won't show up to the church b/c it's a Friday afternoon at 2pm. My family is huge though so I know the family will be there
I'm also worried that everyone will be tired from working all day and won't dance but hopefully that's not the case.

Re: Is Anyone Getting Married On a WEEKDAY?
I am gettine married on a Thursday night. My friends and family have been totally supportive. In my opinion, there isn't a difference between A Sunday evening wedding and a Thursday evening and people have been hostineg sunday evening weddings gor years, I chose the Thursday of fourth of July weeken because I figured many people take off that Friday anyway. I am so glad that I chose a thursday because it cut the cost of my RH hall almost in half, I didn't have to cut my guest list, and every single vendor I wanted was available on my wedding date. Don't feel bad about it. In the end, you have to do what works for you and FH and those who truly love and care about you, will be there no matter where and when it is. Good luck

THURSDAY WEDDING HERE!!
1. Thursday's are cheaper 2. We chose it because FH wanted an evening wedding, and when we looked at the calendar, we both have off the next day - Veteran's day - so we decided that Thursday would be perfect 3. Since it's the day before a holiday I DO NOT think it is inconvenient

We're getting married on a Monday (Labor Day) only complaint so far is FMIL (UGHH!!) but thats with anything! .. Noone else seems to have a problem with it & I made sure to send the STD's out right after Christmas so it wouldn't get mixed with Christmas cards.

THURSDAY HERE ALSO!!!
-Im all about saving money, and when I saw the cost of Friday vs a Thursday! I was like 'sign me up for a Thursday!' LOL. But the day I picked is not too bad. It's the Thursday before Labor Day. Most people have off that Friday or take off any way so its not that bad. I'm happy with the date I picked.
Since our wedding is on a Thursday, that Saturday we are throwing a barbeque to send our out of towners on their way. Then we will leave that Sunday for our 2 week honeymoon. Not bad.

I share the same sentiments as you... Are you getting married at Russo's? How has your experience been with them?

Hi, I was thinking the same thing about the bbq... That's a great idea... Are you getting married at Chateau Briand. I saw the place online and it looks beautiful... Can you tell me more about it please??? Would you mind me also asking how much they quoted you for a Thursday? Thank You!

We're getting married on a Sunday night - not on a long weekend, so it's pretty much the same as a weeknight. It wasn't what we originally envisioned, but to have it at the place we wanted, we had to take what was available.
Prior to booking, we checked with our closest family members & friends and after hearing that they'd be there no matter what, we went ahead and booked the venue.
As far as easing your mind... think of what it is about your wedding that you are most looking forward to (aside from the getting married part, of course!) but maybe it's the venue itself, or the food, or the fact that you can now afford things that you otherwise would not have been able to have - and just be appreciative that you'll be having that wedding BECAUSE it is on a Thursday night. I say be thankful for that wedding that you'll have, and don't spend time dwelling on things you're not having. Otherwise, you'll never be completely satisfied!
