No i'm so scared I don't even want to say anything at the rehearsal dinner. I'm bad at public speaking.

I've seen this done at the wedding I just recently went to. We thought it was a really nice thing. FI will probably make a speech thanking our guests.

I plan on making a speech even though I don't really see it being done. I want to be able to acknowledge my new family. I also want people to know that the celebration of my marriage would not be possible without the love and generosity of my father who passed almost one month ago. It is just something I have to do.

I don't like public speaking, even in front of friends/family so I'll be opting out of giving a speech. But I think FH is planning on giving one to thank our guests for coming, and to thank me for doing all this planning!!!

I love public speaking, as it is my profession!
My FH and I spoke at our engagment party and I got CHOKED UP and he had to finish.
That said, I hope that at least ONE of us will say something.

Didn't do it, but I've seen it done by the B&G and the father of groom or bride. Do it if you want..

Re: Is anyone going to make a speech at their wedding?
I am, but kind of as a punchline and with a prop. LOL
OK let me explain before I confuse anyone....
We met through Yahoo personals. The title of my ad was 'Complete With a Set of Steak Knives!!'. So the other day FH asked me where his set of steak knives was for answering my ad.
So I intend on after the best man's speech to give everyone the details of how we met, to thank them for coming and to present my FH with his set of steak knives!!!

Re: Is anyone going to make a speech at their wedding?
I have seen people make speeches before, and honestly... it was awkward. They were so nervous that they kept talking in circles and couldn't get anything out. In the end, it took them 15 min. to say thank you. If you're a good speaker, go for it... if you've been drinking and you're nervous, keep quiet and enjoy yourselves.
Many brides and grooms go around to tables and thank people.

I'm not. I've been to weddings where brides did this, and it was BORING.
too many speeches slows down the party. One wedding I went to...both sets of parents spoke, a brother, best man and MOH. it was awful
