We didn't want the dancers to compete with us for attention. The wedding is about us, its not a performance.

Re: Is anyone having dancers?
I doubt I will lack any attention on MY wedding day!
I was saying Dancers to get the crowd going?
or to help along with some fun dances..
I think I might want a belly dancer at the coctail hr!

Re: Is anyone having dancers?
Dancers make me think Sweet 16 or Bar Mitzvah. The tend to command attention, and a lot of people are put off by them, and won't dance because they are. The crowd will get going with a great playlist! Not to worry!
The Belly dancer would be fun though!

Re: Is anyone having dancers?
I'm not having the kind of dancers that DJ's have if that's what anyone was thinking.. My wedding sure as heLL will not be a sweet 16 or ba/bat mitzvah.

Re: Is anyone having dancers?
Anyone was me, and I was thinking shiny shirts, Macarena, and yes, DJ dancers..I wasn't trying to insult, just stating what I thought of when I thought dancers. I'm sure your wedding won't be anything like a Sweet 16 Marcella...

no, it wasn't.. it was towards Alina as well..
there are professional dancers and then there are DJ dancers.. BIG DIFFERENCE.

I am not, but I think it is a nice touch to have dancers.

Re: Is anyone having dancers?
I was actually tossing the idea around of having professional dancers - a couple or 2, no more - to dance the tango or salsa - something sexy and commanding. I thought it would be fun & interesting for us & our guests.
I don't think it takes attention away from the bride & groom - i think it adds to the festivities of the evening.

I know, and that's what I meant. Please don't be insulted by anything I said, I don't want it to be misconstrued.

Re: Is anyone having dancers?
Marcella I had the same thought - the only times I have seen them are at bar/bat mitzvahs but maybe I don't know what you mean because I have never seen any at weddings? Do you mean like the people who dress in black and dance near the DJ and try to get everyone going? Or - ?

Re: Is anyone having dancers?
No Thrilled, those are DJ dancers. I *believe* she's talking about professional ballroom dancers. Correct me if I'm wrong Marcella.

Re: Is anyone having dancers?
I am not having them for my wedding but i hired professional Tango Dancers for my Moms 50th B-day party at Westbury Manor and I must say it was the BEST present for my parents and GREAT entertainment.

Re: Is anyone having dancers?
Marcella, I was referring to the professional dancers that tend to put on a show for wedding guests, not the DJ dancers that get the crowd going
