FH and I aren't sure we want one but my mom is insisting. She thinks we'll be sorry if we don't have one.

Re: Is anyone here not having a videographer?
we are having one, but only because it is in our package. I do have to say that you miss alot on your wedding day and it is nice to see things that you may have missed. It is your day though do whatever you want to do. Good Luck!

Re: Is anyone here not having a videographer?
We weren't sure if we wanted one, but we met with our DJ and he had one of his partners there from Music Idol who does somethign really cool and it was like half the price of a traditional videographer, so we booked him. He comes inw ith an 8x8 screen in a 10x10 truss with special lighting for the dance floor. They put together a 20 minute photo montage to music and play that during diiner. You get the DVD. They will have 2 cameras, one stationary and one shoulder, and will put the live feed on the screen during the wedding. We get that DVD as well. So we got something super cool for an amazing price and just couldn't say no.

We werent going to have video at all. I really thought I would never sit thru it. BUT we did book one-and really you wont know if you will miss it until you dont have it unfortunately. We decided to do it b/c we have family members that are older and after they are gone we would like to be able to look back and watch it and see them there enjoying our wedding.

we are not getting one. we're not comfortable being the centers of attention, so we decided not to have a video. we don't want to feel uncomfortable during the wedding.

Re: Is anyone here not having a videographer?
Im not. My one sister who had a videog has watched it like once and other sister didnt have one and totally doesnt regret it bc shes a picture person and after all, has the memories regardless of having film, thats how me and FH are. we have one way of documenting through pics and we're okay with that. i just for whatever reason dont feel like i need the video, also dont want so many ppl all on top of us, its one thing for pics. just not for us. wasnt worth extra money and more than anything i feel just uncomfortable just thinking about being video taped. cant imagine feeling that way on a day i just want to enjoy.

We are not having one... I'd rather just show people pictures than making them sit through an entire video. Besides, there are a few people in FHs family who looove to take videos, so even though it won't be professionally cut or anything, we'll still be able to watch that video if we want.

We are having one. We feel that it's important to have that a memory. Video catches a lot more of what is going on than pics.

Re: Is anyone here not having a videographer?
We weren't going to get one either. It wasn't in the budget. Then I saw some videos and friends said I could possibly regret it. Then I read an article that says skimp on anything but photos and video. They are the only things you take away from the wedding. And in the video you can see his lip quiver when he sees you, hear you voices when you say your vows. See grandma dancing 20 years from now, when she might not be around anymmore. There is just something you get from a professional video you don't get from still photos. Just think long and hard about it before you forgo it. Your mom might be right.

It is definately a personal preference. I didn't mind Not having one, but FH is in love w/ himself and wants to look at himself...Really... It is a matter of what is important to you and FH..

I wouldn't even dream of not having a video because I LOVE my videography co. I think you should make an appointment with them & let them show you samples of their work. It can't hurt to just meet with them. If you'd like detailed pricing, FM me & i'll get back to you after work but I think the basic starts at $2k & totally worth it in my opinion.
FH and I decided not to have one. We knew we wouldn't really watch it later on and we would rather spend our money elsewhere.
We are going to have someone tape the ceremony because my sis is missing the wedding.

Re: Is anyone here not having a videographer?
We wanted to keep our budget low, so we bought a video camera that we wanted since we didn't have one and we asked a friend to videotape the ceremony for us. We will edit the video ourselves. Much cheaper than a lot of prices we were quoted. A video was also not as important to us as other things were

We feel them same exact way. Most people I know watch it once and it collects dust. I prefer to have my pictures and the memories in my head. JMO

Re: Is anyone here not having a videographer?
I battled with this a couple of months ago. I figured my video would collect dust but some pieces of advice I heard were.
1. Since the day goes so fast you miss a lot of things that happen. I saw a friend's video (I was in the wedding party) and there was a ton of stuff that I missed and I am glad I got to see.
2. Since I have a lot of family that don't live nearby it will be nice to record the moments....
3. For future generations (like your kids) they might want to see it too.
4.. Unfortunately memories fade as time goes on.
I am sure that I won't be watching it ever day or even every month. But I would rather have access to it than regret never getting one.

This is what we are doing. I'm trying to keep the budget as low as possible. FH has a friend that was a film major so we're going to ask him to tape the ceremony. Then we'll just pass the camera around and see what we get ;)
My rationale was that on the Honeymoon and when we have kids the camera will be a lot more useful than my wedding DVD.

Re: Is anyone here not having a videographer?
We're undecided...well, rather, I'm undecided. We first said no...to save $ and plus, we've both been to those weddings where you feel like you're being stalked by the camera guy and his bright lights. Haha. But then, I've seen some really beautiful videos--on this site, and from friends--and I feel like I'll regret not having it. We're really strapped for cash so adding something else to the list isn't going to be easy. FH agreed to see some vendors and get prices. Then we'll decide.
