These days getting a job seems to be more a game of who you know. There are so many people looking that any ad gets 100s of responses. Think about former coworkers and school buddies that are at companies you'd be interested in and talk to them!

Its definatly a lot of who you know...
its also a lot of headhunters..AHHHH they annoy me.
A lot of companies dont want to sift through the 301 resumes so they pay a head hunter to weed through the resumes and send them the top 5 candidates.
Headhunters annoy me so much. They call and give you there BS, tell you to come into there office, waste your time and energy and you never hear from them again. Believe me say the word head hunter and you'll get a novel of a vent from me

IrishBride, if you know the companies in your industry, try applying on their own career/recruiting sites...
I have done that for my current job and that's how I got it.
