I think this may get out of hand. Because we would have to invite all of the oot people and the bridal party and there SO's and some other family. = like 40-50 people. And on top of that we wont even do a rehersal. we are doing one the day of.
Need opinions

I don't think one is necessary. Maybe you can do a dinner at your house instead of out. You can even have in-town relatives each bring a dish.

I wish i could but my house is not big enough for that many people and we could do it if it was in the summer. but its not. thanks for the idea though.

If you come up with any ideas let the board know cause I am in the same boat as you especially with the time frame. Can't have a rehersal dinner outside in the middle of december!!!

If you are not doing a rehersal, I guess you dont need to do a rehersal dinner.

we're doing one, but we too had a lot of OOT guests, so we're only inviting 'immediate family' of the OOT people
but really, not necessary, especially if you're not having a rehearsal

You could always do the RD the weekend before your wedding and the OOTers won't even be around yet. You can have it for just the BP and give out your gifts.

Re: Is anyone not doing a rehersal dinner.
We were thinking of having something at my parents house if the list gets any bigger - perhaps something catered?
ETA - We had my mom's 50th birthday catered and that was $800 for food for 55 and we bought the wine, beer etc on our own.

I don't think we are...almost our whole bridal party is from out of town 7 out of 9. And most likely they won't becoming into town until Friday night, I don't think it will be necessary to have one.

We are not having one. First, we are doing our rehearsal the day of the wedding, and plus I didn't want to spend the night before the wedding entertaining...I want to just have a low key dinner with my parents and sister.
I do plan on having a bridesmaid luncheon/dinner a week before the wedding to spend some girl time with the BM's and give them their gifts.

I think it's nice to have something for out-of-towners the night before the wedding, but it is definitely optional. If it's just not in your budget, then don't sweat it.

Re: Is anyone not doing a rehersal dinner.
If the ceramony is on-site, then there is no rehersal. Do you still have a traditional rehersal dinner??
We didn't have an engagement party so I am not worried about 'overkill'
What do you think I should do??
Thanks

i don't think it's necessary to have one. we're not having a real 'dinner'. we're having the bridal party and the parents over for a very casual thing at our house. we're just having a hero and stuff like that...

Most likely not and if we do it will be at an all you can eat spot.

We didn't have a rehearsal either; thus, no rehearsal dinner. My husband went out with his family & out of town relatives; I was already out in Sag Harbor with my mom the night before the wedding!
