I feel pretty calm right now about the wedding process.
I pushed to get all my vendors booked before I move to NJ (not there yet, tho) and as you know, I got my dress.
I do want to be the one who calls my vendors a month, two weeks and a week before my wedding. I want to handle the money aspects, etc.
The things that I am concerned about - or would want someone to help me with are: 1. organizng the rehearsal. i have a huge wedding party and don't want to be yelling at people to get into position. however, if the priest shows up I know that they usually lead it. at my church there is a lady who isn't the nicest who handles the rehearsal. so in the best scenerio, i'd like a DOC to handle that.
2. i'd want them to put pew bows up. but i guess i could ask my neighbor to do them.
3. i'd want my house decorated, but i guess i could ask my neighbor.
4. i don't want to know if something goes wrong at the wedding. if my flowers are wrong, i don't want to be the one to call. if the limos are late, i don't want to know. i have a hard time 'getting over things'...
but as you all said, it is an expense - esp. for the trained and experienced ones. so it's up in the air for right now. as it gets closer, you'll be able to gauge what you need a bit better.

Re: Is anyone NOT getting a DOC?
My hall provides a DOC. Otherwise I wouldn't be using one.

Re: Is anyone NOT getting a DOC?
so a DOC is just someone you hire for the day? how much do they usually cost? I could proplery use one.

Nope. I have great BM's and family if anything needs to be handled.

Re: Is anyone NOT getting a DOC?
i'm definitely not.
it's not necessary and a waste of money (regardless of the amount).
i've already booked the majority of the vendors and i want to be the one to call them before the wedding to make sure everything is okay.
a DOC would be one more thing to worry about.
i am perfectly capable of doing things on my own. it's my wedding day...i want to plan it not look back in 20 years and realize i didn't do it myself.

Re: Is anyone NOT getting a DOC?
i'm not - we just don't see the need. imo, its one more person to deal with and on that day you want as few people involed as possible.

nope- I am way too much of a control freak!
I think a DOC would get in the way.

Re: Is anyone NOT getting a DOC?
You girls made alot of good points.
All the weddings I have been to never had a DOC and they were beautiful.
I am undecided, but I really do not want to spend the money for that. Someone else mentioned they are just another person to worry about.

Re: Is anyone NOT getting a DOC?
I'm not I have been doing a good job of getting it all done on my own and not only that why should I pay more money for a DOC when I have the banquet manager and other people to help with things. I can spend that money on other things that are more important

Re: Is anyone NOT getting a DOC?
Most likely no. I think they're nice to have but I've been to many weddings w/o coordinators and they've all been great. I'll have plenty of people around to help out that day.

Re: Is anyone NOT getting a DOC?
i'm not!! i don't really see the need for it - i'm not having an extravagant wedding and dont need anything 'coordinated' and isnt that what the banquet manager is suppose to do? atleast thats what he told me.

Re: Is anyone NOT getting a DOC?
I'm not.... my sister-in-law had one and she had such awful ideas like instead of my brother seeing her walking around a tree to get to the aisle....she should walk out the front door and through the parking lot to get to the aisle. She put such a bad taste in the air....ugh.
