Is anyone NOT having a cardbox?

Is anyone NOT having a cardbox?

I had no intention of buying or making a cardbox. Is this wrong? The FTMB ones are gorgeous, but it just seems like an unnecessary expense to me. But I don't want to be the wierd bride that didn't have one...

Thoughts?

Don't feel weird because you don't want one.

I wasn't going to have one either and just use a bag. But then I got a box from BBB at my shower that would be perfect to use as a cardbox. All I am going to do it cut a slit in the top and cover the box in fabric and that's it!

I also found it uncessary to pay a lot of money for one...hell, I didn't even want to pay $30 for the onces they sell at Orientaltrading.com

all i did was get one of those predesign boxed from A.C.moore and use this as my cardbox. I would drive yourself crazy I spent $8. You don't have to have a cardbox.

I actually used a birdcage that I got for less than 15 bucks on the web. I don't have any pics of it but you can see it here on the right of our table.

ETA: don't mind the 'do me' letters lmao

LMAO! There's kinda of a funny story surrounding those letters. They were originally on the cake table as we do letters but the guys kept changing them around to say 'Do Me' and putting them in random places around the reception. They just kept showing up out of nowhere if we weren't paying attention it was the ongoing joke of the day.

but seriously, I don't think it's a big deal at all if you don't have a cardbox or anything for that matter. I've been to weddings and I've actually never seen a cardbox until I came on LIW. The last wedding, the cards were just put on a table.

I am not doing a card box, i am not sure what I am doing yet, ut I don't think it is an expense I want to add either, but I am sure that I will be able to find something to borrow from someone in my family.

I dont think its weird that you dont have one but you should def have something to put the enveleopes in because you dont want to lose them and you want them to be kept safe while you are dancing and having fun.

I am not having a card box. My bridal butler will be taking the envelopes and putting them immediatly in the Bridal suite safe.

please I actually recommend NOT having one. I was considering until I spoke to an attorney which was present at my home closing. He high recommended that I reconsider this. He said people are dressing up going to halls and snatching up card boxes! The hall is not responsible, and the couple gets screwed. So yea, my granny who has trouble walking said she would be more than happy guarding my card bag or whatever i put them in!

We didn't have one. We just collected the cards and made a few stops into the locked bridal suite. I just put them in the luggage I was using. This was much easier for me to deal with than to worry about buying and carrying something else.

I'm not having one. We decided instead that if we get a card, we give it directly to my great aunt who is in her 70s and will be seated the whole wedding and not dancing. She's the official card holder

My mom will be my' cardbox' for the night. She's the most reliable person I know.

I would at least get one of those chests. You have to have something for cards to go into, they are less likely to walk or end up missing that way. Don't forget there is often money in those cards. You don't want them all around loose.

No cardbox -- when people gave us cards, we just held them or put them in DH's tux pocket until we had a lot, then I would take them all and put them in my purse which was hidden in a back room near the bride's bathroom (also gave me an excuse to do frequent bathroom runs and put on more lipstick).
