Me, I will put the money towards my wedding or other expenses like my house or new car.

Still not sure...
If we do it wont' be until he gets back in the summer..and then we have the problem if we have it in NM the people in NY or FL may not be able to come and vice versa. Which means maybe we'll have a small one here and a small one there...but then I think between travel expenses and the cost of it....I may just rather put it towards the wedding..or a house!!!!!

We aren't having one. Neither one of us really wanted one so it didn't make sense to spend the extra money to have one.

We are not. Just another expense. We are trying to save for a house, and pay for the wedding so didn't really find it necessary.

We are not going to at this point. We have been engaged about 1 year already. Plus money. We just cant afford it at this point.

we arent, b/c weve been engaged since february and have never really wanted to spend the money on it, we rather spend the money on the wedding

we thought about having an 'engagment bbq' over the past summer...but in the end it was just an expense we didn't care to spend or have others spend on us. we've already been engaged 8 months now, so no real point in it now.

We are not having one either. I feel like it is not only another expense for us, but for our guests.

I kinda wanted to have one... b/c I love parties... and wanted our families to get together... but I am not sure... as you can tell I have waited a while...

We had a really small one Dec of 2003- It was the Tuesday before New Years Eve- Didnt invite too many people but it was nice- It was our excuse to get my other grandmother to come and see us so both my grandmothers can be together - it was actually very freaky how it turned out though bc that was the last time alot of my family members saw my grandmother ![]()
She passed away in 2004.....

We did not have an engagement party because everyone knew and we had a memorial day party which apparently was the 'engagement party' plus we are moving after the wedding out of state and it will be too much to move![]()

I'm not. I guess FI and i felt like we didn't need to have one. Just our personal preference.

I'm not sure... at this point I wasn't planning on it, because we've been engaged for almost a year, but then the other day my mom was talking on the phone to a friend, and the friend asked about sending us an engagement present now that the whole thing is really getting under way with planning and such, and my mom mentioned something about maybe throwing us one this summer...
So, I don't know. I'd kind of like one just because we never really got to celebrate our engagement with family and friends, so it would be really nice. When we first got engaged I went through a confused period where I kind of just needed time to think the whole thing through and not talk to people about it, and by the time I had processed it all it was kind of late for celebrating. So, I feel like I kind of cheated myself of the joy and excitement of getting engaged. Because of that, I'd really like to have an engagement party, but, like I said, we're almost at a year of engagement, so it would feel a little awkward now.
We'll see if my mom actually remembers her party idea or not.
